It’s not difficult, though he’s going to have to do at least one semester in Engineering before he can transfer and, obviously, post decent grades. Maybe he’ll even discover that it’s for him!<br>

As you can see in the link above, CAS has a December 4th deadline to apply for an internal transfer plus a few requirements (including a rec letter from CAS faculty), so he’s going to have to get started pretty soon after he gets there if he wants to get it done for second semester.
EDIT: @ Ones–how would getting into ENG be a “back door?” It posts higher SAT scores and is generally considered to be as selective, if not more selective, than CAS. This is just a matter of shifting interests, which is pretty typical for 17 and 18 year olds.</p>
