Case is very strict about grades, I got all B’s and a C in the first semester, and they sent me the warning. Unfortunately, this greatly outweighed the A’s and B’s I got in the second semester, leading to all B’s and C for the final transcript. I know that Case will NOT be happy with this.
Thank you for your kinds words! It would be greatly appreciated if you replied to this.
Ok, I see. I was told by my parents that to transfer, I had to start over again and delay graduation. I contacted a Umich admission officer, who debunked it. However, my parents thought that Case was the better option still, and made me rethink going to Michigan. I don’t know if it’s too late to ask Michigan for acceptance, as I already withdrew acceptances other than Case.

I’m a little confused by this - isn’t school still going on and if so isn’t second semester at most schools pass/fail because of stay at home?
"I know that Case will NOT be happy with this. "
If Case is not happy, not sure how UM will be happy either.
Your heart is with UM, if your family can afford it, switch to UM.
Not sure what your asking? I sent the link on how to do a cross campus transfer. Your not starting over. All freshman, regardless of major, take the same core classes together. So Cal1 Chem, Physics all will have engineering, medical, LSA all together in the same class. So the core classes are done together. You need these anyway. You really don’t declare for engineering till the end of your sophomore year but nice to have a direction prior to that.
Engineering admissions can answer your questions also.
As far as which school is better. That is more personal. If your parents can cleanly afford you going away then Michigan is an awesome choice. If not Case is a great school.
Your drop in grades doesn’t affect your admission to Michigan if you look at the link I sent. Due to the virus think Michigan might reconsider you but you won’t know till you call /email and ask. Regardless get it in writing. Ask them to email you if you call. Lots of students are second guessing themselves and Michigan offered about 350 extra offers this year to make up for those that might drop out. They offered you a spot which is really tough to get OOS, so they thought you would do well there.
Have a talk with your parents but call today so your not delaying your chances if this is still in the cards for you. If you need more advice post or pm me.
Not all school systems went to a pass/fail system. My son’s high school is reacting to the shut down by offering more than one option.
A student’s grade cannot decrease from where it was when in-the-classroom classes ceased.
If a student fails to “attend” virtual classes, through circumstance or choice, that student’s final grade for the year will be what it was on the last day of class back in March.
A student can improve their grades if they participate in the virtual classroom experience and do well.
A student can choose to have their final grades be actual number grades or choose pass/fail.
OTOH, my son’s best friend attends a private school. For him, the virtual classes are mandatory, and his final grade will definitely be affected by his performance in his virtual classrooms.
Also, AO’s will have to look at every school district’s grading policies, because locally, here in Silicon Valley, many districts went to P/NP. One reason our local district went P/NP was because minorities and low SES kids were disadvantaged since many didn’t have computers and/or internet connections or had to take care of siblings at home.
If I’m an AO, and I’m not, then a school district which has a policy of not letting grades fall below pre-pandemic levels gets an ***** in my book.
Thank you very much for all of your replies. TBH, I asked this question in the heat of a moment, and don’t know why I did anyways.
I am going to Case, and I will go there with a positive attitude and not have transferring in my mind. After all, it was one of my top schools I want to go.
I heard that if I want to switch, it will taint my school and harm others who want to go to Case. I already told me family and friends that I will be going to Case, so changing a the last minute is no good.
