I wouldn’t change your opinion on Midd because of some people’s opinions posted on a website. Midd is an amazing place, academically and socially,as far as I can tell. I visited campus last fall and all of the people there were extremely friendly. Also, at the preview day earlier this week, every student I talked to had nothing but good things to say about the college. Several students gave me and my mom directions and even went out of their way to show us around campus.
Everyone seems so happy and excited just to be at Midd. I have yet to meet one person who is “pretentious, promiscuous, arrogant, close-minded, or racist” in any way. Actually, in my experience the people at Midd are completely the opposite. They’re friendly and easy going. The majority of students there wear jeans, sweatpants, sweatshirts, and t-shirts, not exactly the clothing of preference for arrogant rich kids.
As far as the race issues go, I don’t consider it to be much of a problem. I remember reading something on this forum about Midd and race issues a while back. Unfortunately, there will always be some people who are closed-minded at every college. I think you’ll find that the majority of Midd students aren’t like that. One of the things that made me choose Midd over my other schools was the diversity and how accepting people seemed. There’s a discussion website for accepted students and the diversity is amazing. There are people from all across the world and everyone is so excited to get to meet people who are so different from them. I wouldn’t consider Midd students to be racist at all. If anything, I think they’re interested in other cultures and aware that Midd provides them with an amazing opportunity to get to know people from all over.
Good luck with the waitlist, I hope you get off, it would be great to see you at Midd next year!!
