@collegeisgreat Not a current student at CPP, but I live in the surrounding area. About 10 minutes away. The area that CPP is in is actually very suburban, so I don’t believe that the air quality is an issue. There may be the “ghetto” or dirty side of Pomona, but CPP is located in between Walnut and Phillips Ranch. Mt SAC is close by CPP. The San Gabriel Mountains are also located near CPP, giving a nice clear, suburban view. Also, Walnut and Phillips Ranch are also very safe in regards to crime activity, if that’s also an issue you’re looking into. These cities have lots of trees, hiking trails, houses, and not a lot of people are seen walking around the streets. There is also significantly less traffic in the areas compared to LA. (I’ve lived in both places before)
I have a lot of friends from my school who are first year freshmans at CPP. Some dorm, and some commute because they live close enough. All of them seem to be liking everything, including their classes, campus life, and the people they hang out with. I’ve passed by the campus several times and I was amazed to see how beautiful and huge the campus was. You could say CPP is more of a commuter school, but I think that goes for almost all Cal States. I’m a CPP freshman applicant, and I’m hoping to go there if I get accepted. I don’t know if my insight helps at all, but hopefully this answers your question.
