is my GPA too low for my dream school (UNC Chapel Hill)?

Your extracurriculars are awesome and show that you’re a “well-rounded” student. While your GPA is a little low for Chapel Hill, being an in-state applicant is TREMENDOUSLY helpful. UNC is notoriously difficult to get into because they only accept about 10% of out of state applicants. Your high weighted GPA shows that your curriculum was most likely rigorous, but it’s hard to tell because every school is different. I don’t have specific numbers for in-state applicants, but I’d think that UNC would want a 3.6-3.8 GPA. A 33 on the ACT is already in the 75th percentile for all applicants, so your score is already well above average, especially for the smaller pool of in-state applicants. If you do end up retaking the ACT and score higher, it will most likely compensate for your lower GPA. With all of this considered, I think your chances are quite fair. Good luck!
