Is NYU actually trying to recruit me?

the subject line: “NYU is impressed with your academic achievements”.

The email goes on to talk about how they have seen my amazing academic performance and why. I should apply to NYU. The rest of the email is generic marketing stuff. It also has the admission counselor’s info at the bottom.

Is there anything that’s actually specific to you? Specific awards, accomplishments, etc.? This still sounds like “generic marketing stuff” to me.

I suspect tens of thousands of students have received the exact same email, from CB’s search service.
