<p>@DadRangerfan - FWIW, one of my sons would have gone the other way. He was accepted in-state at PSU and is now attending another school, his first choice, with a scholarship. However, his second choice would have been UB with money from both the University and from Engineering. He was all set to attend UB because the other scholarship opportunity wasn’t final until the last minute. We visited both UB and PSU, and I’m familiar with both of them professionally. If there is a huge net price difference, then UB is clearly the best choice.</p>
<p>Also bear in mind, at PSU your son would have to become Penguinfan or (heaven forbid) Flyerfan.</p>
