Is Rice good?

Here is the 2007 post graduate survey of where students were plannig on going. You can see the graduate schools by discipline there.

OK, Rice vs. Berkeley for APh/EE: I’d definitely have to give the win to Berkeley here. They are traditionally a EE powerhouse because there’s a large emphasis on it there–they also have some of the better graduate research in that field (which hopefully you’d be able to get in on as an undergrad, although that might be hard).

For student experience, it depends. Rice is definitely a smaller, friendlier school… but Berkeley also has a lot to offer atmosphere wise.

Are you conservative? If so you may feel a bit out of place in Berkeley.

Rice has room for liberals and moderates and all kinds. The schools are very different and I think neither one has an edge over the other in terms of academics. Rice is small enough that anyone who wants to get in on research can, and there are resources galore.
