Do Harvard students think of Swarthmore students as equals or inferior?
Thanks!
LOL, Harvard students think everyone is inferior. Don’t use them as a benchmark.

Shouldn’t the question be shortened to “Do Harvard students think of Swarthmore students”?
Agreed. On those rare instances when Harvard students think of students from other colleges, they tend to be geographically closer. Now if the question related to Penn/Swarthmore or Harvard/Wellesley, the OP might get different responses.
It’s kind of a silly question because “Harvard Students” are not so uniform that they all think of other people in the same way. It’s also silly to say the students would only think of or about students from local colleges. Harvard is just a school, many lovely people from all over the nation attend Harvard… and some jerks do too. Ditto Swarthmore. There is conformity in the uniform excellence of their academic records but otherwise it’s both unwise and unfair to expect all students from one school to have the same opinion on a certain topic.
OP - I think what you’re asking is “is Swarthmore as good as Harvard?” and you won’t get a consensus here. I know you’ve started a thread debating whether you should transfer to Swat or go to Michigan and I have some unpalatable advice for you. Stop asking other people’s opinions on what you should do. It’s your life - you have a couple of great choices. Just choose one and love it. Life is what happens after that point. I have close friends who graduated from Harvard, Michigan, Swarthmore, Stanford, UCLA, Cal State Long Beach and the University of Houston. They are all happy and successful and no one cares where the other ones went to school.
@calmlywaiting, I wouldn’t sweat it. It depends more on which is the better college for YOU.
For the record, after college visits, my daughter chose not to apply to Harvard but did apply to Swarthmore. The college and the programs of interest suited her better.
Good luck with your search and application process!
“LOL, Harvard students think everyone is inferior. Don’t use them as a benchmark.”
Contrary to popular belief, not everybody who attends Harvard is an arrogant twit.
My cousin’s wife graduated from Harvard, and she doesn’t look down on those who attended other schools. She married my cousin, who was a “mere” Michigan grad.
I’ve seen some smug Stanford grads right here on CC who look down on Harvard, but I’m sure not all Stannies are so overly impressed with themselves.
My remark was with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek. Many users on this site are well aware that I have many friends and acquaintances who are attending or who recently graduate from Harvard.
