I thought Mark’s performance for the Twitter save was a train wreck of a performance. Korin was a little better, but her performance was NOT her best of the season, imo, as a couple or several of the coaches suggested. I also am glad she was saved.
Amy was the 7th name called for America’s save. I’m assuming that was without the 10x multiplyer she earned for her top-10 iTunes ranking. Is that right?
I agree with musicmom, Blake had the better group song but neither were any good. Pharrell’s song was just atrocious.
I hate having judge’s comments after each bottom 2 performance. Such a waste. Either they don’t want to sway the vote or they DO want to sway the vote by lobbying for their team member.
I thought each of the top-12 handled their question from Carson well with one exception-- Amy. That was a very awkward answer that she gave. She even doesn’t connect and/or lacks confidence when she is just taking a question.
I liked how my team did overall tonight. The first 4 out of 5 of the names called were in my top-5 with Zach at #10.
Are they naming the saved contestants in order of votes? I am sure that Jordan was #1, but Braiden #2? It’s possible he pulled in a lot of teeny bopper votes, but I do not feel he would have ranked that high.
Musicmom, Braiden was the 5th person named. I don’t know for sure, to answer your question, but strongly suspect they did the names in the order of the most votes.
Wow - just listened to Jordan’s performance. I loved it. What a pure talent he is.
I attended a church service this weekend at a church in downtown Detroit. The middle-aged soloist was so very good … I couldn’t help but think about her while listening to various Voice contestants. The church lady sang effortlessly, soulfully, and with real passion … so many great singers who will never see the big stage or the money, and so many mediocre singers who will get a break for whatever reason. Ah, well. Life ain’t “fair.”
Korin’s days are numbered, and I have to wonder if the show will pay to have her hair dyed back to its natural color once she departs, or leave her with the fried Stefani look to cope with. Personally, I would have yanked my kid off the show before allowing Gwen to do that to her head. (Since I think Jordan has a lock on the championship–though not a chance in hell of an actual pop career–I’ve been spending my time speculating about various critical matters other than winners and losers.)
@1214mom, no, I have no special knowledge about Korin’s transformation, but she sure didn’t seem like the type to go platinum blonde on her own, and Gwen does significant makeovers on her team members all the time. (Can’t imagine what she might have done with Jordan…)
Korin has a beautiful voice, but she seems so uncomfortable on stage. All the judges keep saying, “Be yourself.” Korin made some comment about trying to figure out who she is. I think it would be great if she dyed her hair back to it’s original color and announce that she tried going blonde, but it wasn’t really “her”. At least she refused to take off her glasses during her last performance.
Well. I missed the beginning of the show, so I didn’t see Barrett, Shelby, and Evan.
For me, the revelation among those I did hear was Emily Anne. She was awesome. I love Ricky Skaggs, and it was interesting to me that she talked about him and about having a bluegrass style. I really loved what she did with that song. I actually voted for her, something I never thought would happen.
This is the first time I’ve actually been moved by Jordan. Amy was, as always, great. I can’t wait to buy her records. Braiden was great. He really has an extraordinarily mature voice. Madi was great. Jeffery was great. I though Korin was excellent, very individual.
I really, really did not like Zach. He creeps me out. I thought that song was much too mature for him.
As I said, I didn’t see Shelby, who I don’t like in the first place, but Adam seems to be on a roll with song choices for Amy and Jordan. He really gets Amy. Pharrell seems to be unusually attached to her also, and perhaps regrets letting her go. I think the problem that week was Rihanna pushing a more obvious sexuality on her, that is just not her thing.
So I listened to the first three on highlights. Barrett: he is just a great performer. Never thought anyone could revive Delta Dawn, especially not a man, but he did it. Evan: song really showed off his voice, excellent production. Shelby: go home please.
No matter what Amy is singing, I expect her to break into “I’ve got a pair of brand new rollerskates …” I just can’t love Emily Ann because of the nasal quality of her voice. Have trouble with bluegrass generally for that reason (except for Alison Krauss). Liked Jordan. Heard a little Bryan Ferry in Jordan tonight and I like that. He should sing “Dance Away” or “More Than This.”
I think Korin looked uncomfortable during the comments because she knew she had hit a whopper of a bad note in the middle of her number. D and I are both very familiar with that song and we yelped simultaneously went she went so far off key. I wish they wouldn’t allow teenagers on the show. They all need more vocal training and performing skills. Failing on national television at 15 or 16 seems like a bad way to start a singing career, regardless of talent level.
Amy is such a deadly dull, emotionless singer–technically adept, but an album of her work would be a sure fire cure for insomnia
Didn’t like Shelby. Questionable song choice, awkwardly performed, and overproduced. Judges gushed anyway. In trouble.
Liked Evan. Gwen said his personal best and I agree. Liked that he wasn’t doing any stage movement and that he was playing his guitar. Liked the dancing silhouette.
Barrett is (always) a solid performer. He’s moving on.
Didn’t love the song Korin performed. With the makeover it’s like a different artist is on the show. She’s just not the same quirky artist who I fell for when the season began. In trouble.
Amy quite possibly gets another top-10 iTunes ranking with her performance. She also felt more comfortable and confident in her own skin!
Liked Zach much better vocally this week than last. Safe for now.
Wow, Madi. I will be shocked if she doesn’t get her first top-10 iTunes download. Her breakout performance of the season!
Finally, Braiden gets back to doing what he does best… throwback! Really liked it.
What more is there to say about Jordan that hasn’t already been said?
Emily Ann was awesome. Loved that she played the guitar. Helps cover up her stage movement deficiencies. Loved how Blake tweaked it. Her best of the season!
Jeffery delivered another great performance! Hard to believe he hadn’t performed for 6 years leading up to his blind audition.
Great night overall. There could be 4 or 5 performances in the top-10 on Tuesday.
Shelby and Korin in the bottom. Won’t be surprised which one goes home but I think it might be Shelby. The guys were all good tonight, IMO.
