Wow, just goes to show how different opinions can be. I thought the Jordan-Adam duet was dreadful. The song is meant to be sung in harmony, as the Beach Boys so memorably did. Jordan and Adam were singing THE SAME NOTES. What a travesty. Brian Wilson may be taking drugs again after that. Adam is cute and sexy and has recorded lots of great songs, but he can barely sing and shouldn’t ever perform next to someone who can–it’s embarrassing.
I never became a real fan of any of this season’s contestants. Jordan does nothing for me and the rest are just meh. When does next season start?
MommaJ, I personally don’t think Brian Wilson would have been that disappointed with the arrangement of the song that Adam and Jordan did of God Only Knows since it was just a duet and not the (up to) 4 vocalists that his band used (with Carl singing lead). Theoretically, I’m not even sure the Voice producers had the correct name for the song in the duet. I thought the Beach Boys released it in the U.S. as Wouldn’t It Be Nice. BTW, in the last 25 seconds or so of their duet, they were harmonizing. Play it back again and you will see.
I thought Emily Ann had her personal best performance with Burning House. Agreed, funky set. Didn’t like the fire either. We haven’t mentioned her style sense this season, which I think is perfection.
Jordan had a great night as usual but I, also, was not wowed with his performance of Climb Every Mountain. Weird song choice, imo. It will interesting to see how he does with it on iTunes later this morning. We critique the ladies on their style hits and misses and his pleated tuxedo shirt with the bottom altered (squared off at the bottom) and left untucked was a “big” no-no. Yes he is overweight. As are millions of other men who look great in a tuxedo.
Thought Barrett performed consistently well but thought Jeffery had the shakiest night of the 4 finalists. I had him as my runner-up to Jordan before last night. Now, he might have slipped to no. 4.
My guess is it’s between Jordan and Emily. I would listen to Jordan’s Christmas CD when it comes out … His voice gives me emotions and makes me want to go to church, and I am not religious.
I was surprised Adam didn’t know mary did you know until I figured out he was jewish. It’s one of my favorite Christmas songs. In singing contest trivia clay aikin also sang that song.
I went in a bigger Jeffery fan, my final vote would be Jordan, Emily Ann, Barrett, Jeffery. Not that it matters, I doubt I’ll ever hear from any of them again after tonight.

In past seasons, the iTunes 10 times vote multiplier is lifted at the final 2 (?) but don’t recall for sure. Jeffery could be in trouble if his ranking drops and he doesn’t get the multiplier. Assuming it hasn’t already been lifted.
@jshain"God Only Knows" and “Wouldn’t it be Nice” are two entirely different songs, both on the Pet Sounds album… I’m pretty familiar with Beach Boys music and found it hard to listen to the version of “God Only Knows” Jordan and Adam came up with. It’s a beautiful piece and deserves better. Everyone should immediately go listen to the original!
A very high percentage of Jordan’s performances have had religious themes or undertones. I’ve read that he attends an evangelical college, so perhaps he isn’t looking for a pop career but will be content doing contemporary Christian recordings. The show hasn’t produced any pop stars, so I’m not betting on it happening this time. In any case, I don’t think there’s a snowball’s chance in hell for anyone else to win tonight.
I didn’t watch the Adele concert. I like some her stuff, not all. Her voice is great, but her decision to record so many songs with woe-is-me themes gets on my nerves. I don’t like whining, in my kids or my music! I feel like I need to give her a shake and tell her to get over herself and move on. OK, I gave in and listened to the duet because y’all raved and it’s a beautiful song. I actually agree with mommaj. Didn’t knock my socks off, but y’all had built up expectations pretty high. To save everyone trouble, here’s the Beach Boys version … it’s just so much richer.
Did anyone see the end of the Adele show where they followed her into the elevator? It looked like she walked to the back of the elevator and burst into tears.
Burning House was definitely Emily’s best, to me. And I am SO excited that Ricky Skaggs is going to be on the show. I used to listen to him all the time.
I really like all four of them. IRL, I’d listen to all of them but Jordan. All that pop religious stuff just leaves me cold. (I had never heard Mary Did You Know before, and never want to hear it again. There is so much great Christmas music out there that I would much rather listen to.)
