I feel as though Janice has finally emerged as Miley’s no. 1 seed. I personally liked Brooke and Ashland best in their blind auditions. Janice keeps improving.
I thought Addison had her personal best vocal performance of the season. She really stood out, along with Chloe.
Thought Adam had his worst performance of the season.
For me, the weakest member of the top-12 is Shi’Ann.
Here are the iTunes rankings as of Monday at 9:22 PM Pacific. Make sure you refresh the link for the latest updates:
Two things that have always bugged me about this show - the effusive praise for everyone’s performance and the need to take any type of song and turn it into a belter’s paradise, or is that nightmare?, e.g., Midnight Train to Georgia last night.
Agree on Red, Consolation. Definitely looked out of his comfort zone with the performance. He could be in the bottom 3 tonight. I think the show still needs him to stick around for a couple more weeks. Davon, even when good, does not seem to be getting rewarded with good iTunes results. Liked how he danced a little bit. I’m ready to see Jon dance or move a little more again.
I also agree with alwaysamom, coaching comments after each performance a total waste at this stage and with all of you about the screaming/belting. Hurting both Brooke and Keisha. Janice hits the big notes with more ease and seems to be in better control. She seems to know who she is. I love how she pours so much heart and soul into each performance. She also looked good last night. I am now starting to get past her appearance and really appreciate her for who she is. Thought the stylists, overall, did a great job.
Tonight’s first elimination was a big surprise for me but each season there seems to be that one who should go home first in the Live Shows… but doesn’t. He had a decent iTunes ranking but, unless you get into the top-10 earning a 5 times vote multiplier, anything can happen. Assuming they announced them in order of most to least votes, I was surprised Janice did not do better-- given her stellar performance. This might be a glimpse of the uphill battle she faces to reach the final-4.
Point totals and your top-3 please, for those playing along? I came so close to adding Chloe and removing Red before they locked our teams. Now I’m sorry I ignored my impulse to do so.
Noah 15 days
Addison 7 days
Red 7 days
1,717,500 points (only earned around 50,000 points since last week)
1,767,100
Brooke 58
Ashland and Shi’Ann 57
Looks like my day totals are helping me.
I was surprised to see Jon go. I was thinking I should have kept him. I also really liked Chloe and Addison but just went with the day count. I think Addison was only fewer days because she was on a week later initially.
I do not think they announce in order of vote total because the first three were conveniently on different teams.
Right after The Voice tonight is A Very Pentatonix Christmas. We are huge Pentatonix fans and have seen them live twice. They have posted a video with Jennifer Hudson singing How Great Thou Art. That will be part of the hour special tonight. She really overpowered them so it was not one of my favorites. Maybe I am also biased from not liking her so much on The Voice.
It should be interesting to see the CMA Christmas special negatively impacts the top-11 live show tonight. Thanks also for the heads up on the Pentatinix Christmas special following the Voice, musicmerit.
Here are the songs being performed by each artist tonight, by team:
Adam–
Adam- American Girl
Addison- A Case of You
Blake–
Chloe- Total Eclipse of the Geart
Keisha- It Matters To Me
Red- The Dance
Miley–
Ashland- Chicken Fried
Brooke- What About Us
Janice- Shine
Jennifer–
Davon- I Have Nothing
Noah- Electric Love
Shi’Ann- Listen
I listened to the teasers on iTunes. I believe mostly good song choices. Thought Adam C. could have had a better song. Didn’t love Janice’s song, for her, but thought her vocals were good. Did not love Davon’s song choice either. I thought Red had a song perfectly suited for his range so, hopefully, he did enough to stick around. The one artist who continues to blow me away week after week is Addison. I think she will do well on iTunes, again this week.
I Have Nothing is one of my favorite songs. A few seasons ago, I had hoped Jordan Smith would sing it, but he didn’t.
Is this the week that the voters chose the songs? Or am I crazy. Seems like I remember seeing something on the app about choosing songs.
I love the song I Have Nothing, but not for Davon. Yes, musicmom, the coaches picked the songs based on what the voters suggested on Twitter and on the Voice App.
I thought ShiAnn was horrible and was embarrassed for her… then the judges were all on their feet and gushing about her. I guess there must be something wrong with my ears.
The song Listen is definitely an “ambitious” one. I just think Shi’Ann survives the bottom for a couple more weeks, sending someone home that was more deserving in staying-- like Jon last week.
I would not be surprised if coach Adam is down to just one team member (Addison) when the top-10 is announced tomorrow night. Is it possible that he loses a teammate in back-to-back weeks this early?
