I was out of town this week, but was able to watch Monday night but not Tuesday. Will have to try to catch up. The last singer Monday (Latino guy) was great, even on a hotel TV. I didn’t love the first girl like everyone else seems to. Maybe because of the song and the poor quality TV. Will try to watch her again.
Starting tomorrow night (Monday 3/12) American Idol will be airing alongside The Voice. I plan on watching both on Hulu since we cut the cord. Those of you who have cable or dish, may want to set your DVRs so you don’t miss either show.
There was an interesting 3-girl montage on The Voice Tuesday night. I especially liked Megan Lee (Team Alicia). Listened to her performance of Killing Me Softly on You Tube and it sounded amazing. Earbuds or headphones are a must! Here it is, if you’re curious:
They wear the same clothes for each segment of the show (blinds, battles, knock outs) that is taped so they can cut and paste the performances in the order the producers choose. It generally annoys me because usually there is some ugly outfit on at least one of the judges. This year it’s that goofy dress Kelly is wearing. A few seasons back it was the denim pantsuit with all the poufy flowers that Miley wore.
For those of you that would like to listen to what I refer to as the “iTunes teasers”, click on the PopVortex link below, scroll down to the audition or performance date, click on the artist/song you want to hear, confirm that you want to open in the iTunes Store, then click on the song name when it appears:
You can also wait until an artist’s audition appears on the nbc.com/Voice website. Click on “Artists” on the red bar, click on the artist you want to see (categorized by current coach), then scroll down to their audition/performances:
I also thought it was a good night. I already have my slots full and have deleted one of my earlier picks (Molly) and we still have more blind auditions tomorrow night.
Just saw the Monday show on Hulu and, for me, my favorite Blind so far. My top-4 of the night were:
Hannah
Livia
Gary (replaced Davison)
Tish (replaced Kyla)
As such, I added all 4 to my team.
I only have 1 from Blake’s team (Pryor) in my top-12. I strongly suspect the strength of his team will come from steals moving on. I have probably overlooked Spensha by not adding her but I just did not like her Blind Audition. Gary and Tish have similar styles to Davison and Kyla, but I personally thought they were upgrades, and replaced Davison and Kyla. I have 5 from Alicia’s team, 3 from Kelly’s team, and 3 from Adam’s team. Second consecutive season that Country appears to be the weakest genre. Justin is the cream of the Country crop and unfortunately Blake does not have him.
Last Blind tonight. Adam has 2 spots to fill while the other coaches have just 1 spot remaining. The only one I have left that may be on the bubble is Britton and, to a lesser extent, Brynn.
^Forgubmenot, I believe you posted on the wrong thread.
I just read a rumor on IdolForum that says Hannah Goebel “leaves the show for personal reasons”. It didn’t say when. Can anyone confirm this? I am relatively certain those of us playing along all have her on our teams.
There are 2 female country artists closing the Blinds tonight— Dallas and Jackie. Jackie sounded better to me on iTunes. What do you think?
I have my top 12, but some of them I barely remember. I tried to choose a representation of all genres and ages:
(in no particular order. I’ll rank them after the battles)
Drew
Justin
Johnny
Terrence
Jackie F
Britton
Stephanie
Shana
Kelsea
Alexa
Dallas
Hannah
Tuesday show not up on Hulu yet but I tracked the show on the Voice App. Sharane had the largest percentage of App followers who turned for her—83%, just edging out Jackie V.— 82%. Dallas was next at 74%, slightly low considering she got a 3-chair turn and viewers tend to hit their buttons when the coaches do. I think Dallas has the edge in look, age, and unique tone but Jackie has the range and that soaring ability. Going to take Dallas, like musicmom did, because her coach is Blake. I am back tracking and will be adding Spensha late. Ditto for Jaclyn. Here is my top 8 bottom 4 team heading into the Battles next week, by coach/name/days:
Top 8:
Team Kelly
Brynn 15
Justin 15
Team Alicia
Christiana 8
Johnny 8
Terrence 8
Jaclyn 1
Livia 1
Team Adam
Gary 1
Bottom 4:
Team Adam
Drew 15
Team Blake
Spensha 1
Dallas 1
Team Kelly
Hannah 1
Hannah in my bottom 4 because of the rumor that she departs the show fairly soon.
I just added Hannah before seeing this post. My picks are in no particular order. I missed parts of a few shows and did not go back and listen to everyone.
I have 327,000 points.
Team Alicia
Jaclyn 15
Christiana 9
Terrence 8
Sharane 1
Team Kelly
Brynn and Justin 16
Jackie F. 9
Alexa 8
Hannah 1
Musicmom, you and I share only 5 of the same artists. Musicmerit, you and I share 6. That’s not much overlap. I have 336,000 points but I am Tweeting.
The percent of App users who turn for an artist is somewhat meaningless. Last season, for example, Chloe only had 61% turns during her Blind yet won. John Mero, on the other had, had 94% and was the first artist eliminated during the Live Shows. Runner up Addison only had 74% turns to Karli Webster, who got 84% turns, but was eliminated fairly early. Hannah got a whopping 97% turn from the App users during her Blind (Terrence next best at 94%). This stat is ONLY captured for about 90 seconds on the Voice App, then disappears never to be seen again. Since I am a cord cutter, no cable or satellite, I am only looking at the App in and not the actual show/performance.
Livia, Dream A Little Dream, currently #164, the only artist in the iTunes Top-200 at the moment.
I wish I had not eliminated Kyla and Kelsea. Added Spensha because she said in her package that she wants to sing Country, but Kyla not going home anytime soon. Bumped Tish to make room for Spensha but I think Tish will be this season’s Janice Freeman.
I did a lot of rearranging after Monday’s show. I just listened to Tuesday’s and now I don’t know what to do!
Currently I have
Top 8
Drew
Justin
Terrence
Gary
Jackie F
Christiana
Johnny
Hannah
Next 4
Dylan
Britton
Livia
Wilkes
I think I’m going to hold off making more changes until after the battles start. There are too many good singers that occupy the same track, and some of them are going to go, even though they are great.
