LOL. When she walked onstage, my H said she looked like the mom from The Incredibles!

LOL. When she walked onstage, my H said she looked like the mom from The Incredibles!

DVR’d this week’s show and haven’t watched it yet. Like ellemenope, I am giving Christina and her “girls” a pass. Sadly, at least half of my friends who got divorced in their 40s starting dressing like they were 17 – especially the ones whose husbands replaced them with a younger, perkier model.

Cee Lo’s outfits are atrocious… of course, he would be a bit challenging to dress. But any of us could do better for him :D.

Christina apparently just lacks taste.

Christina’s bustline reminds me of my neighbor’s garage, where he has two Volkswagon Beetles parked in it.
I thought her pants comment was especially weird since his mom was sitting in the audience. I also think she’s dead serious about wanting him and not kidding.

I also really liked Dia’s performance.

Interesting show tonight … there were some surprises for me for some of the singers I hadn’t seen in while. After I saw Javier sing, though, I can’t remember the names of any of the other singers. That song is one I will try to down load. There were 2 guys who seemed to not hit many amazing notes (country boy that kissed the girls 2 weeks ago, and the med school kid). I’m sure their nerves were killing them, so I gave them a bye for the first part of their songs, but then Javier comes out and just blows everyone to pieces.

On the voting, I was a little disappointed that Lily didn’t get through, but if there is a save I hope she’s in the list. I think Bev was a good choice, but I’m not sure about Frenchie. She’s beautiful and I love her voice, but she already did get tons of exposure from American Idol and Broadway, so how is this show going to propel her further than those 2 forums? I did agree w/ Blake’s choices … I think Xenia has tons of potential and she showed her growth curve last week with just one week of coaching (stage presence improved immensely).

I thought tonight’s show was better overall than last week’s. I am really impressed with Adam as a coach, and his singers have been wise to follow his advice. CeeLo seems to do well in providing good tips.

I enjoyed the performances tonight (some more than others). I did agree with the judge’s choices for “saves.”

This is pretty fun, all in all! :)

Okay, I can stop watching now. The short girl that Blake chose reminds me of Rebecca Black. Yikes. Patrick learns humility.

Thrilled that Blake saved Xenia instead of Patrick. That surprised me.

Disagreed with the Frenchie save. She’s had two chances. What will be different this time? Besides, I thought she sounded bad last week.

Thought Adam was much better as a coach than CeeLo. Hated the Bugle Boy performance but loved Vicci. Nakia was good, too.

Am I the only one who is not wild about Xenia? I like her tone, but somebody needs to check for a pulse. I think she has zero stage presence. I also think Dia’s shyness is overplayed. I like her a lot, but she really came alive in her performance last week, but now is back to the doe-eyed act. The country guy did not impress me–his notes were way off in the group number–and the sisters were a little too cutesy. My favorites tonight were Vicci and Javier and think they will go through for sure, but I don’t know which other two.

While I’m on my rant
, I think the wardrobe people are doing a terrible job dressing Blake’s girls. Last week they look frumpier than I do and this week they looked even worse. I’m very conservative (and really tired of Christina’s boobs) but Dia and Xenia look 20 years older than they are.

Christina…“blah blah blah blah blah blah blah”

Is there anything else on TV in the summer?

I thought they saved the best performance for last (agreeing with SnowflakeVT about Javier). For me, he’s definitely the front-runner at this stage of the competition.

I am shocked that Jared Blake went home. A week or so ago, I thought he was the strongest member of Blake’s team.

I am not a baldy Beverly fan. I wonder if Christina would have used her save on baldy if the voters hadn’t put her through? Two bald women on the same team???

I really liked Vicci’s performance tonight and, to a slightly lesser extent, Casey’s as well. I think Vicci sang herself into a save for next week from either Cee Lo or the fan vote. Casey’s voice reminds me of a more controlled version of Haley, on this past season of American Idol, and she also reminds me of Miley Cyrus a little bit. I’m still a big Nakia fan but didn’t care for the song choice. I thought Curtis needed to tone down the “schmaltz” a bit on his performance. Cee Lo needs to take the blame for that instead of doing too much with the song and interaction with the girls.

Last week the judges all raved about the other singer’s performances (kind of like watching this season’s American Idol). Tonight, two of the judges were not all praise for Casey’s performance. Couldn’t having the judges commenting (negatively or positively) about the other team’s singers sway the voters and be used to gain an edge for their own team?

I thought the worst performances tonight were from the Thompson sisters (agreeing with Youdon’tsay) and Devon Barley. ShesOnHerWay, if you’re not feeling The Voice, check out So You Think You Can Dance!

I hope Christina goes back to looking like Christina next week. Tonight she looked like Paris Hilton-- from the neck up-- whom I like even less than CA.

America chooses Scary Bev? Really, America!!! To me, that was the biggest shocker of the whole night. I didn’t see it coming. I could see almost anybody else on Team Christina as being America’s choice–but Bev? Keep wearing that skirt, Bev, and listen to Christina’s advice. And thank whatever demographic is watching the show and taking the time to vote for you…

Much as I like Frenchie, I would have liked Lily Elise to be saved by Christina. She was coming along…would have liked to have seen what she would have come up with in the ensuing weeks. Maybe Christina figures that Lily Elise can take what exposure she’s gotten already and run with it, but this is Frenchie’s last chance for glory.

Amazing what ONE SONG can do if it is really, really good. I wonder how many times Dia’s version of Heartless was downloaded on iTunes…not hard to see why she was voted by America to move on into the next round from Blake’s team. But does she have another rabbit up her sleeve?

America’s choice left Blake with a really difficult quandry that he’s had time to think about for a while (I’m sure that the iTunes download numbers for Dia were through the roof, so he must have figured that Dia would be saved by America). I’m sure that he wanted to get the country boy into the next round, but he has that father-daughter thing going with Xenia…he’s emotionally invested in her progression, just as we parents are with our own kids. It didn’t surprise me that he chose Xenia, although Carson Daly made it sound like the biggest surprise ever. [Hello, Carson, what about Scary Bev?!!]

I suppose the big surprise is that Blake Shelton, the country western guy, has a team of 2 girls who aren’t even a little bit country.

Team Cee Lo’s performances:

Seems like Cee Lo likes to mix things up when it comes to comfort zones and music genres. Interesting–sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

Thompson Sisters–Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy is an extremely hard song to get the harmonies right and definitely not a song that the country sisters would have picked for themselves, I’m sure. I loved their stage performance; they were fun to watch. But their harmonies didn’t quite do it for me–plus it didn’t help that all of the brass hid the pureness of their voices. They sounded best when they were singing without music.

Vicci–I’ve been looking forward to Vicci’s performance since she was one of my favorites from the blind audition and battle rounds. Vicci did not disappoint! Soulful rocker does a Dolly Parton hit, Jolene, from almost 40 years ago? Surely, this was a song that she must have chosen for herself! I can’t imagine Cee Lo coming up with this song. (She did pick it herself…but Cee Lo agreed with her choice.) It was perfect for her and her voice. Bare stage, no dancers–great staging by Cee Lo. Definitely worth a download for me.

Nakia–Sex on Fire was a perfect song for Nakia. No making him sing a country song. Great song for his voice and his stage presence was fabulous. The falling down on his knees trick–quite dramatic and it worked. I was impressed. [I wonder if those two dancers get hazard pay for dancing with fire…]

Curtis–country boy does pop/rock classic, Addicted to Love. Flat beginning but the song did get better. But Cee Lo was right–he advised Curtis that he needed to get a more sexy persona on stage for the song. As my 87 year old neighbor and The Voice couch-buddy said, “No sex there.” And his interaction with the singers at the end? Just made you realize that the number was low on sex appeal which REALLY would have sold the song. I can imagine a country guy like Blake Shelton doing that same song and hitting the ball out of the park with it (and Jared Blake would have killed that song). BTW, I agree with the poster who said that Curtis sucked on the group number. He was awful…

Speaking of the Cee Lo’s group number, was that the funnest number ever?!! You know that you’re getting old when a part of your real life (Sly and the Family Stone, 1968) is the theme of frat parties and costume musical numbers. Cee Lo has a sense of humor, I’ll give him that! (Did we really look like that?)

Bottom line: Vicci and Nakia into the next round. Don’t surprise me, America!

Team Adam’s performances:

Devon–Voice didn’t seem strong enough for the chorus part of song (Stop and Stare) or the parts that soared. But he certainly sounded vulnerable on the vulnerable parts at the end. I don’t think that performance is going to get him through to the next round.

Casey–Loved the drummers on the plastic Home Depot tubs and the two female “sassy” dancers. But I thought Christina had a good point, though. I had so much fun watching the drummer and the dancers–and with Casey stuck behind her guitar and not moving a lot–my focus wasn’t on her…which is where it needed to be.

Jeff–Great voice, and I hope you don’t think I’m being insensitive, but I think we’ve done enough of the “motherless child” plugs–the guy is great; let him stand on his own. The song tugs your heart strings, his story tugs your heart strings. I’m getting heart-string-tugging fatigue. I wish Adam could have gotten him to sing a different song. He may be able to get through to the next round, but he runs the risk of sounding like he’s singing the same ole song week after week.

Javier–Glad that he took Adam’s advice and toned down some of the over-singing that he is prone to do on this song (think James, the gospel singer, on American Idol). And he could have toned it down even more for me. But there is no denying that this guy has a sweet, sweet voice. One of the best performances of the night.

Bottom line–definitely Javier into the next round. But who will Adam pick to send into the next round? Probably Jeff, maybe Casey?

Team Adam group number: Loved the high school choir!

I was struck by the similarity also, jshain!

I sure enjoy this show soooo much more than American Idol; I stopped watching Idol a few years ago. One thing I think the producers should have done differently though…I think they should have revealed American’s choice from both Christine and Blake’s teams in the beginning and then both coach’s saves for the end, so one team didn’t have to wait the entire show to find out. I wasn’t clear on what will take place next week on the show other than Adam’s and Cee Lo’s finalists being revealed.

I still wonder if there are any more saves … like a super-save or a fight for your life. Some team’s 3rd best is better than other team’s 2nd best. (i.e. My girl Lily should stay.
)

My predictions for who stays / who goes:

Team Cee Lo: Nakia (America’s choice), Vikki (judge’s save). The Thompson sisters could surprise us, as they pulled off that song better than I thought they would and they do have great stage presence.

Team Adam: Javier (America’s choice … I’ll bet my springer spaniel on that). For judge’s save, this is where Lily should replace someone, but I think that Jeff may beat Casey out in this situation.

Definitely should go: Curtis. He missed more notes than he should at this stage, and I didn’t like the vibe he gave off when he answered Christina’s (yet again raunchy) question, it made me think that he played up the blonde girl that he beat out 2 weeks ago to trick her into thinking he was into her so he could distract her. Maybe I just don’t like that kind of country guy that tries to be too macho. Where’s sweet Scotty McCreery? That’s a sweet country boy.

Last night was interesting.

I think CA needs to stop with the overly sexualized talk - it’s bad enough having to look at the way she is dressed.

I think Adam’s team was a lot stronger in general. Javier is a front runner. It will be interesting to see who he chooses to save.

Cee Lo is good at the show. I have never thought much of the sisters. They remind me of Hillary Duff and her sister and that really isn’t a compliment. Did NOT like Curtis - ewww! I like Vicci.

I also like Blake & Adam more each week.

It usually happens when the show is quite far along. I am convinced that she having a low blood sugar or something…feed the beast!

Much as I love Javier and Vicci, I loved the shows that Christina and her girls put on. Choreography, staging…very entertaining!
