“Dude, your reading comp on this thread is totally lacking. You’ve twisted around what I said and put it in a totally different context.”

Yeah, I failed UW.

I’m not arguing with you.

“Dude, your reading comp on this thread is totally lacking. You’ve twisted around what I said and put it in a totally different context.”

Yeah, I failed UW.

I’m not arguing with you.

Because there’s nothing to argue about, and you must realize you’ve made an utter fool of yourself on this thread. A poster made a stupid comment about the OP becoming a lawyer because he’s sleazy, and I responded to that commenter by making the point that plenty of professions would be good for the dishonest and sleazy. You seem to have taken my response to somehow “justify what the OP wants to do” on the basis of “banker shadyness.”

C02, you brought “bankers” and finance into this. the line was a throwaway joke, because of stereotypes that exist (and jokes that are made) much more widely about lawyers than about anyone else.

you’re picking a fight.

My comment wasn’t stupid. Clich

I did mention bankers and finance, but I’m not sure what that has to do with my calling out cerberus when she misrepresented and mischaracterized my post.

FYI, do you really think these days that more people are making more jokes about lawyers being sleazes and crooks than they are about “CEOs” and “wall street bankers”? I think the last six months’ Leno and Letterman monologues will give you some idea of what pop culture has deemed to be the most crooked industries these days…

Oh wow. I can’t believe that my controversial question led to something like this. why are you fighting? its not even related to what I asked.

Anyway, I decided NOT to lie and tell them the truth. My father-Engineer (unemployed) and my mother - Economist. I hope that it will not hurt my chances.

No it won’t hurt your chances.

Translation: I am bored.

Unless you are a legacy, what degree your parents hold is absolutely irrelevant

Your father being unemployed would help in FA

I agree with others you need to search your soul…it seems like there are several unethical scenarios floating around you

OFF TOPIC
Bred…do you know Aspergers…because if you did, you would realize that nothing…absolutely nothing in those comments shows anything about ASpergers. Aspergers is a part of the autism spectrum for highly functioning people. Their biggest trait is that they take everything literal (black and white…they are taught shades of gray, most people with aspergers, are police, computer, mathematicians, things that are black and white), CO has illustrated colors of gray and abstract.
Aspergers have problems with rationalization…it is not in them…right/wrong that is what they see.

I am personally offended by that comment…you used that as a slam…My DS2 has Aspergers and I am very proud of him. Aspergers is also known as a social ADD, because they must be taught the shades of gray. How would you feel if someone said derogatory things about you, esp. since you had your choice re your education, Asperger isn’t a choice, it is a fight everyday due to a medical issue, they never had an option, they have had to fight for fairness, endured emotional pain for being different and even in your sit, my DS would never be accepted by the Marines, or any branch due to it, even though he has a 3.5 gpa in honors, is a black belt in Tae kwon DO, plays piano, and is a recruit for football…but his med condition that you think is a joke will keep him out.

I hope you realize as a journalist you cause pain with your words

Clever, Karot. :D

bulletandpima: Yes I do know what Asperger is. My step-brother has it.

I didn’t mean it as a slam, and I’m sorry that you took it that way. I had noticed that there were certain subtle cues that Columba2002 hadn’t picked up on and so I was considering the possibility.

The reason I asked him was because he missed on the “throwaway” nature of my initial joke, and when somebody suggested he was picking a fight, instead of confronting that suggestion, he focused on the merits of economic versus legal corruption. It just reminded me of my brother, and I thought if it.

I am very sorry if you were offended by my question, but as a rule, I never engage in personal attacks.

Denz meant C02 was picking a fight with me, he wasn’t referring to you

Yeah, cerberus, I was counting the two as separate instances which led me to believe that perhaps C02’s thought patterns were in line with some of the symptoms of the disorder, which include lack of demonstrated empathy, intense preoccupation with a narrow subject, and a failure to react appropriately to social interaction.

I was interested because if it were the case then “many behaviors that seem odd or unusual [would be] due to those neurological differences and not the result of intentional rudeness or bad behavior.”

Edited to add: It’s odd to me when people remark how “crippling” Asperger’s is. I understand it’s a difficult circumstance at times, especially when any of the parties involved aren’t aware of the disorder at play, but it’s not so debilitating that a person with Asperger’s wouldn’t be able to work in any number of satisfying jobs or maintain interpersonal relationships.

Back to the original question:

At any university I’m aware of, any false statement on the application can cause admission to be denied. If the lie is discovered after admission, admission can be rescinded. If the lie is discovered after the student has begun attending the university, the student can be expelled from the university. Some universities will even cancel any credits you already earned, on the theory that you shouldn’t have had the opportunity to earn them in the first place.

As you can see, this type of lie is taken very seriously.

There are any number of ways that a university could find out whether your parents have university degrees or not. I’m not going to go into detail about how, in case it could help you get away with lying about this point.
