I agree with Mainer95 and would go so far as to say all the HADES schools are nerdy schools. I mean, have you seen the kids at these schools? Anyone who visits Choate, Andover, Exeter, SPS, DA when in session and look at the third formers, juniors, preps, lowers, etc. will see that the young boys are very immature looking (not talking about the red shirted recruited athletes) and extremely nerdy.

HEY!!! My boy isn’t nerdy! (Well, maybe a little, but you couldn’t tell by looking at him.)

haha…they’re all a lot nerdy. :)

That is so true! And here’s a secret- the girls are too!

Dadslearning - your family might benefit from visits to many schools. Some kids get a feeling that a school could be a very good fit just from an interview, a view book, and some online searching. Your situation sounds like in-depth visits would really help. We were in a somewhat similar situation and ruled out a couple, were happily surprised by a couple schools. Ask ahead of time if your student can participate in a club meeting or activity. If you’re permitted to hang out at the schools (cafeteria, student union or gathering place, a lowkey sports event, a student performance or competition), you’ll learn a lot. Your son will feel the “vibe” of the school. It’s a lot of time and money, but could be a good investment.

It’s in Alabama but Indian Springs School seems like a good fit. Many similar kids and no compulsory sports. There are teams and everyone is welcome but this is not a jock school.

Saint Andrews in Delaware. It may be different now, but a friend went there and was well served as a very bright kid not much into sports in general. They required some sports but made sure that it was a way for kids to exercise and enjoy themselves rather than a major time sink and competition.
Call schools and talk to them - look at the websites and ,if you can, at the school newspaper to get a feel for things.

Just the name “Indian” Springs is a turn-off.

It’s like Governor Dummer’s Academy. Had to change the name to Governor’s Academy, because who wants to go to a school to get dumber?

Indian Springs is a town, hence the name. School is actually very good - just look at their stats.
