How do you get a 1520 SAT being “pretty bad at math”? The lowest math you could have got is 720, which is 97th percentile nationally and 93rd percentile of test takers.
I was thinking the same…but she also said:
“i didn’t take in hs”
So I’m not sure how that could be - because if the student took no math, how could they graduate HS or get into any college?
So i’m guessing that’s not actually correct.
Apply for Zell Miller / HOPE
Emory has a competitive secondary admission process to Business. You would only apply as “pre business”.
You could apply as Film&Media with one of the 2 concentrations above if you want communication. Then pivot.
Nowadays, marketing is heavily data&stats based, with calculus-based stats. You’d need to consider a stats or data science minor.
If you want advertising it’s something different.
Or you could just apply undecided.
Did you apply to UGA before Oct 15? If so you’d be considered for automatic Honors admissions, if not you’d have to apply
Student skipped a word, guessing “calculus”.
Since you seem to be all over the place on major/career interests at this point (which is fine), I definitely wouldn’t go into massive debt for college. UGA with Hope/Zell Miller should be a main focus, as well as other publics in GA. If you zero in on a particular interest and want to transfer after 2 years, you can revisit. FWIW, UGA requires separate admission to Terry School of Business with certain minimum GPA and pre-requisite course requirements. Business Calculus will be required and is not an easy course - especially for those who haven’t taken a pre-calc in HS. If you go into finance, corporate finance classes will also be required and will be very challenging.
Filmmaking is very competitive - both as a major choice and as a career. I’d be surprised if you would be considered without some kind of portfolio of your work. Most who enter this field don’t do so with no film background.
Unfortunately, parents sometimes make financial promises they can’t live up to, either because they don’t understand the process or because they experience a change in their financial status. My advice is to take your parents out of it, apply for financial aid and focus on true target schools.
@throwaway468 unless I missed it, you haven’t done a complete chance me/match me thread. This would include ALL of the high school courses you have taken, your standardized test scores, your list of ECs, GPA, class rank, and budget for college. Please do this and answer every single question…in one place.
You don’t “apply” for the Hope or Zell Miller. You qualify for it.
