Wanting good basketball is as valid a college environment perk as my kid wanting access to good sushi.
But my dream school is actually UCLA but I’m a business major and I know it’s extremely hard to get into their business school. I should graduate community college with a 3.2 gpa, 3.4 at the most and I have nothing else to show on my application. It’s almost as hard as Stanford to get into!!
So what does telling UCLA that you like watching basketball do for the bottom line of UCLA? It’s not anything you couldn’t do as a non student.
Well they know I will donate money to the program if they accept me.
How much to you intend to donate? Since you’re asking about FA, you’re obviously not wealthy.
Unless it’s a 7-figure donation, they won’t care.
Nah I’m not but I love money so I guess that explains why I’m a Business major. But should I even bother applying to UCLA? Since my parents don’t have college degrees, my siblings don’t and only one of my gramps graduated with a AA degree, do you think coming from an non college oriented family will boost my chances?
All selective colleges are giving a boost to “first generation” college students. Being 1st gen is your hook.
There are 3000 colleges in the USA, so you have to narrow it down somehow.
Make sure it is affordable, has your major and is not terrible to travel to. There will be many of those colleges…so adding basketball is fine.
I’m a Business major. I’m going for either General Business, Marketing or Management so most schools have my major. What college is “affordable” these days unless you are getting a big scholarship? lol
