@ucbalumnus thanks for the info! But from my understanding don’t most unis have some general core requirements? Some don’t for instance brown I believe.
Could you name some colleges at the reach/match level that have low core requirements if any?
Do.Your.Homework.
Which is not the same thing as asking other people to do it for you.
Did you look at the Columbia & UChic links? Do you know what the difference is between a Core curriculum and General Education (aka GenEd) or Distribution requirements? Have you looked at the requirements for your current wish list?
You don’t need more reaches- you need to learn about the ones you already have - and you need to spend more time on identifying places that you are mostly likely to be attending (from both a cost and an admissions p.o.v.)- which are matches and likelies, not reaches.
You just need to look at each college’s core or general education requirements to see how voluminous they are and what subjects they are in to see if they are too your liking. Note that Columbia, Chicago, and MIT have different kinds of subjects they require for their core or general education requirements.
Potential reaches with few curricular restrictions beyond that required for a major include Amherst, Brown and Hamilton. Grinnell offers an only somewhat less unrestricted curriculum. URochester requires that you choose six non-major courses across two “clusters.” If you identify as female, Smith represents another option.
Thank you guys for all the info!
One thing tho. This is something that’s actually really important to me but I forgot.
Which colleges have great partt-time job opportunities for students? And which don’t(so I should take em off the list)?
I googled but there isn’t much.
