Is This a Wide Enough Net?

First, I want to thank all of the knowledgeable people who’ve helped to keep our family sane during the last few weeks.

One of the most common advice I’ve read on this forum is to cast a wide net. I cautioned my son all the way through this journey and he applied to the following schools:

Berkshire School (which is a gorgeous school. I recommend everyone to take a serious look at it)
Loomis Chaffee
Taft School
Deerfield Academy
2 local day schools

Now I am second guessing this list and wondering if our list should have been even wider. Out of all the so-called HADES and others, Deerfield was the only frequently discussed school he genuinely liked. I would appreciate your opinions.

1/ He should not apply to school’s that he doesn’t like. If he did not like it the first time around, he’s unlikely to like them any better if he were accepted. The exception may be if he did not like a school for a reason listed on the “Stupid Reasons” thread. The thread pertains to colleges, but the idea is the same.

2/ Unless he’s dead set on a BS, and assuming that the 2 local schools are valid options with a reasonable expectation of acceptance, then his list is fine.
