Reclassify it as a reach rather than a safety, because she needs the big merit scholarships, not merely admission.

Then take a look at Ohio Wesleyan University. Excellent merit aid, and would be an academic safety. Very rigorous, with a reputation for being “easy to get in, but hard to stay.” Especially strong in science and fine arts, but also good at most everything.

Thanks, we’ll take a look at Ohio Wesleyan Univ. as possible addition

Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas? With your child’s ACT/GPA, there might be a possibility of decent merit aid.

Will take a look at Trinity, it was not on our radar. First note, is that it does have engineering option (not 3-2) if math& science child decides after first semester or two to pursue that. Relatively rare among liberal arts and sciences schools.

^ Lafayette College in Pennsylvania is another LAC that has an engineering program; but it might be a little too far East, considering the other schools that you mention. There might be a chance of merit aid there, also.

Was aware of Lafayette, and seemed like good option; but D’s preference is to not go that far east.
