Is USC in-person or, like many universities, are they saying that to make sure the cash keeps coming

@CADREAMIN - thx for the responses. regarding “The one per room is internet legend”. During that webinar the other day they did state that they hoped to be able to accommodate 2persons/room but due to county regulations it looks they may be forced to have a single person per room only. And they stated multiple times that there will be less beds available in dorms.

Since USC does manage a number of out-of-campus properties, and it looks like there are many folks trying to get out of the leases for those places, perhaps indeed USC will be able to accommodate everyone that had the dorm assigned already. But if that means some will have to go to a different place than the one they paid the deposit for one would think those would have to be given a choice to cancel.

@mwParents Yes, sorry, I didn’t hear the webinar (don’t have a freshman) and was dealing with info I was told a couple weeks ago (ages in pandemic time), apologies I wasn’t up to date there! They have lots of housing options “off the books” that they can pull into play. I really think everyone will get a room if they are signed up, USC can work magic when they need to.

The one person per room still confuses me though - if both negative coming in and the students share a hall/bathroom, etc., heck the campus…why one per room - seems like the county isn’t thinking that through and just imposing on the schools. Maybe it will change again in the next few weeks! It’s gonna be very hard to enforce a lot of things they want to enforce in a college environment. But I can’t wait for mine to get there!

@CADREAMIN - no need to apologize. And yes, the rules are, well, strange. Seems like they are there just to comply because in practice they make little sense…

going back to that housing selection/confirmation procedure. So by now USC clarified the process. the latest email stated: “If you cancel your application before July 15th you will receive your application fee credited back to your student account.” Now - does it mean the deadline is July 14 11.59PM Pacific Time? July 15 5PM pacific Time? July 15 11.59 Pacific Time? Else?

@mwParents USC/college deadlines usually mean at 11:59 day of deadline so it would be by 11:59 on July 15. You can call USC housing if you want to be sure, or decide by tomorrow. Good luck with your decision.
