@ konradph- According to the published numbers, your selectivity ranking is incorrect. For the schools you listed, and listing Penn and Wharton as separate entities, it would actually be:

Harvard 6.3%

Columbia 6.9%

Stanford 7.1%

Yale 7.4%

WHARTON 7.5%

Princeton 8.4%

Brown 8.7%

MIT 9.6%

Caltech 12.0%

Penn 12.3%

Cornell 18%

(And Dartmouth would fall between MIT and Caltech, with an admit rate of 9.7%.)

Regardless, all of these schools are highly selective and offer incredible educations to those lucky enough to gain admission.

@shaheirunderdog- Congratulations on all of your great acceptances! You seem like a really friendly person, and I hope you choose to join us at Penn at next year
Best of luck deciding!

Also, for the record, I never received one of those emails, either.

Dear shaheirunderdog,
Congratulations on your acceptance into the College of Arts and Sciences at Penn! You rose to the top within an extraordinary group of applicants during a spring when the College’s admit rate was a record low 9%.
First off, I hope to see you on campus for one of our Penn Preview Days this month. It really is the best way to see for yourself what sets Penn and the College of Arts and Sciences apart from our peers. I also invite you to become a fan of the College on Facebook. This will enable you to get important reminders and news about the College. Likewise, feel free to socialize with your new classmates through the College Class of 2015 group on Facebook.
I hope you’ll take some time to explore the College website to check out some of the resources we use to help students shape their academic programs, as well as sites like CUREJ, the College Undergraduate Research Electronic Journal, which features some of the outstanding work our students do.
If you still have questions, connect with current Penn students who have volunteered to help with your decision.
All the best as you decide where to embark on your intellectual journey for the next four years.
Dennis DeTurck
Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences
Robert A. Fox Leadership Professor
Professor of Mathematics
P.S. If you haven’t already seen the College’s video, you need to check it out!

This was the one sent out to College of Arts and Science admits, if I interpreted this wrong then my bad lol.

^ That means that the RD (spring) acceptance rate for the College was around 9%, and of course the general Penn RD acceptance rate was 9.5%. The College acceptance rate is generally pretty close to Penn’s general rate, so that the overall acceptance rate for the College (RD plus ED) was probably close to Penn’s overall acceptance rate of 12.3% this year.

But at this level of selectivity, of course, it’s really splitting hairs. :)

Congrats on all of your wonderful admits, and I, too, hope that you choose Penn!
