this story is turning out to be a real embarrassment to uw-madison. maybe exposure to the light of day will be the end of this bizarre social engineering project.

Darn- the link wouldn’t open for me.

passing out tin foil hats over here…

In fact, for anyone who truly believes that Wisconsin is adjusting grades for race, or even considering it, this video is for you:

“were an admissions officer at a professional and saw a URM applicant from UW, I’d question the grades and dismiss them entirely if the LSAT or MCAT or similar score was not commensurate with the grades on the UW transcript.”

Right, because a URM couldn’t ever actually be qualified. What a piece of work.

It seems that those who would ‘adjust’ grades by race are the racist ones. They apparently think that URMs cant’ cut it if grades were given race-blind.

Has UW had any statements on this? Refuting the faculty senate’s approval or saying that any such scheme is wacko?

“It seems that those who would ‘adjust’ grades by race are the racist ones. They apparently think that URMs cant’ cut it if grades were given race-blind.”

Well, it’s a good thing UW isn’t planning on ‘adjusting’ grades by race (which, of course, was a big duh).

The following is a July 21 statement of Professor Patrick Sims, Chief Diversity Officer and interim vice provost for Diversity and Climate:

The idea that UW-Madison will begin to base student grading or the make-up of programs or majors on race or ethnicity has circulated on the Internet in the wake of a recent opinion column by emeritus UW-Madison Professor Lee Hansen.

Allow me set the record straight: Nothing could be further from the truth.

But hey that doesn’t fit the narrative some people want to have.

This thread has wandered beyond the area of the potential policy. Closing thread.
