I was 10 in 1964 so not yet really into popular music, although I probably saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show since I remember watching it every Sunday night. When I did start getting into music, I was also a huge fan of Herman’s Hermits. Had such a crush on Herman/Peter Noone! I saw them in concert in 1967, with The Who as the opening act! Also loved -and still do- a lot of other British Invasion music. I’ve rediscovered The Bee Gees (pre-disco) and have been listening to them a lot lately, especially after watching the recent documentary on Max. So sad that Barry is the only one left. I also love listening to Petula Clark and Dusty Springfield. I’ve created a playlist with 60’s music that is so much fun.
Exactly what I was going to say. Nothing from the Beatles stuck to me. Simon and Garfunkel on the other hand, I still remember after all these years although I haven’t played them since college.
That is the joy of Alexa. I have one in my bathroom and just say "Alexa, play Simon and Garfunkel’ as I’m getting into the shower and she does! 10 minutes or so and I get my fix.
Found them.
Remember the days when you didn’t know if a picture turned out until you got the film developed? Best I could do with phone editing. Peter Noone and me in the hallway.
If you have SiriusXM he hosts a weekly show so he’s still around.
I love REM. “Losing My Religion” is one of my top five songs.
I like your theory. I was never into The Beatles having been born more than a decade after their heyday but I enjoy Britpop and alternative. New Order, Incubus, Linkin Park, Alice In Chains, etc. are all perennial favorites.
