My two new pans arrived yesterday from Ebay, which means I have to choose two old ones to toss out. Now I can turn my attention to the decrepit wooden spoons in the drawer; I want new wooden spoons!
My 26-year-old son still uses his when he visits.
We have a lot of the stuff on the list. Mug proliferation is probably the biggest problem.
Another vote for the bread in the Dutch oven, by the way.
What size dutch oven do you use for the bread? 4.5, 5.5, or 7.25?
I have an entire set of eight (or maybe even twelve) divided plates, because SOME people in my household still don’t like their food to touch. So I guess I need to get rid of the lovely dinnerware I got for my wedding that sits unused.
Yep, dutch ovens for bread is the way to go; it holds in steam which produces an amazing crust. Use the smallest one. I started out using the large one as I didn’t know how much the bread would expand, but the smaller one helps wetter doughs keep their shape.
Thank you. Now I have a reason to buy a smaller dutch oven.
Sounds like my D. I always thought she was just kidding when she was younger, but she told me recently that it’s actually pretty important to her, almost like an actual phobia. Certain foods can touch if they’re intended to, e.g. gravy and potatoes, while others can’t, e.g. vegetables and gravy. She’s not a picky eater at all otherwise and eats all kinds of different cuisines.
Ah, here it is. Looks like it’s a thing:
“The fear of foods touching—formally known as brumotactillophobia (try saying that ten times fast)—comes in varying levels of severity and is believed to be a mild form of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).”
I bought divided plates for D1 when she was in HIGH SCHOOL because she complained about touching food. She also is not a picky eater, but has a thing about this. I will tell her it has a name.
No, you need to USE it!
