<p>For IT and high tech, Silicon Valley is hundreds of miles ahead of any other place in the world.</p>
<p>For biotech, it is debatable who is the real #1, Silicon Valley or Rout 128? I would still bet Silicon Valley. Because Stanford + Berkeley + UCSF seem stronger than Harvard + MIT.</p>
<p>Well you would definately have to include MIT, Stanford, Caltech, most of the Ivies, and Berkley. It would be hard to include any other state univerisites. I don’t see how other state universities can be considered anywhere near “world class”. That is just my opinion but I don’t see where that is coming from. Like Texas, Michigan, UIUC, Georiga Tech, those are just great engineering schools. But to be listed as “world class”. Were talking about placing schools with MIT, Oxford, Stanford, ect. Those state schools are far from world class. The Indian Institute of Technology is world class. Harvard is world class. Those are the elite, but putting a state school like texas or michigan as world class, come on, who the hell you fooling.</p>

<p>ForeverLSU. I know it’s hard for you to fathom that a public university can be great since you are from Louisiana, but Michigan is definitely among them. It is a “world class” institution. Michigan is much more than just an engineering school.</p>
<p>I don’t see how you can put U MICH with a school like Berkley, I’m sorry. You can put UT Austin and U Mich together, but Berkley is on a whole different level.</p>
<p>I never said Berkeley wasn’t the best public school LSU. I believe that it is. I also believe that Michigan is the second best public school all around, certainly more prestigious than Texas. Michigan is stellar at the graduate level, the area that really matters when you’re talking “world class” universities.</p>
<p>Back to the engineering point, this student looked for schools with great engineering programs to apply to, and he also put a couple dream schools on his list. Rose Hulman made the list, as did Princeton. Yale and Harvard? Nope.</p>
