It's complete bull how the Ivies use Class Rank to determine who they accept

<p>I’ve talked to plenty of people at Brown who have never taken another math course again because they hated it. Just because someone hates math, science. and foreign language does not mean he does not belong in an Ivy.</p>

<p>I can appreciate how math, science, and Spanish are important, and I have respect for the subjects and my teachers, but they are goddamn boring.</p>

<p>There is ZERO vreativity or discussion. Just practice the math formula, get the answer, figure out how to do some physics problems, learn these vocab words, blah blah blah.</p>

<p>Which would you prefer, doing repetitive calc problems or discussing symoblism and theme in As I Lay Dying? Or analyzing the prose and character development of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest? Or debating whether or not John Brown was reall insane, or whether or not it was moreso Wilson’s stubbornness or Congress’s rigidity that caused the US to fail to pass the 14 points? Or discussing MODERN MIDDLE EAST HISTORY, THE COOLEST COURSE EVER.</p>

<p>Seriously, compared to that, math, science, and forein language are boring and require no creativity.</p>

<p>Guys: this new poster has just put up several inflammatory posts with repeated sweeping generalizations. Someone with too much time on his/her hands and most likely not trying to advance any real discussion on the forum. Allow him/her his 15 min. of fame and let this and the other flame-type threads just pass away. My advice.</p>
