It's time for finals and my kid has mono!

NY parent here.

Speak to administration, but also every teacher.

If you r daughter has done well enough (for your/her) liking and does not need a “final” exam to pull up her grades, see if she can just skip the final. Certainly she has grades for 3 marking periods already, grades for this last marking period and they can come up with an appropriate final grade for the course. (What would the school do if there was a family emergency, or child was in the hospital???) This will likely be less difficult to deal with than you think (at least I hope so)!!

NYS Regents??? She have no recourse other than to take them in August. (Sons are in college and I can’t recall how many they had to take in 10th grade… Science? Math?)

(Son1 had mono several weeks into Freshman year at college. Every teacher he emailed was understanding and told him to come back to class when he was ready. Took a couple of weeks and even then had some trouble making it to all classes. Roughed it out at school the whole time as he didn’t want to come home and saw no reason for us to move him into a hotel with us… Ugh… no fun, but he made it through just fine.)
