Email from Kelley admissions this afternoon.
OOS, Test optional, 4.5 weighted GPA.
Strong rigor in courses
Lots of community involvement & leadership
Kelley only sees stats from what I’ve heard. Congratulations!! Hope they read the essays!!
Yes. She got the email at 4:30 central standard time.
It’s a smart decision to admit some Kelley petitions ahead of this Friday’s decisions for WI, MD, UIUC, etc…
Did the portal update too or just the email? Thx!
My son got direct admit to Kelley this evening too! He received an email from Kelley. His portal has not been updated yet. He is in state, applied to IU Sept 27th I believe, Petition submitted Oct 15, admitted to IU mid November, Test Optional, unweighted 3.994, weighted 4.439, strong EC, leadership, and sports. He did receive the SSA after he completed his general scholarship app. Good luck everyone!! So glad they started releasing decisions before April 14. Go IU!
Kelley does not care about the other schools, they care about the high stat kids attending DA days and attending IU. Kelley really only cares about Ross in competition among the Big10 schools. DA days are yield events. Those are the students receiving big Dean’s awards and maybe other money and the ones Kelley really wants enrolled. Congrats.
Yes, they started admitting via petition ahead of this Friday’s UMich notifications. Smart move!
My daughter just got email for DA to Kelley today as well. She applied Oct 16 & submitted review end of Dec due to attending 2 high schools (despite GPA & test scores alone qualifying for DA at Kelley.) Received invite to submit for SSA scholarship a week or so ago.
Good luck to all!
I applied October 15th and petitioned same day but am yet to hear anything
@notcharlie you could not have petitioned the same day. It took a week or so to get an IU account student ID number, only then would you have been able to submit a review request
Yeah I just checked. I got my id on the 12 and applied on the 15th my bad
As these decisions begin to be released by Kelley my advice FWIW is if you do not hear right away you should not feel any emotion other than you did not hear today or tomorrow or the next day. It is always anxiety time when some report admission and eagerly post it. And you should post and be excited about it. But not hearing should not equal disappointment.
Kelley knows now how many spots it believes it can admit on review. It has an algorithm on the student profiles it really wants at DA days and other yield event touches. Some of that profile is pretty clear already with higher Dean’s/Provost awards and SSA invites.
And that does not discount any applicant’s worthiness or likelihood of admission on petition. Admissions is a totally different concept than what may occur over the next few days.
I feel for everyone who checks email hopefully and does not see Kelley admission. Don’t read into any piece of it. For most it will not be April 15, it will be early March. From some it will be soon. I do not believe DA days are full and the longer spots remain the earlier Kelley will release admissions in hopes to fill that. DA days are by far the highest yield events that occur. Kelley is not looking at your admission and saying meh, they are looking at other applicants and saying yes.
Kelley really really really cares about stats, especially GPA with rigor and earlier petition admits will skew that direction. Skewed a bit toward women applicants. But it also will fill its class and admit many of you all. Maybe not as early as we all hope. Trust the Process.
