I've been Waitlisted

Is there any chance I could get a Fall term?

I highly doubt my mother is willing to go through all of the trouble of sending me down south with my aunt unless I can provide a good reason. Sadly “UCF Is a great school that offers all my majors” at cutting it.

My main problem is if I get in I’ll need a car to commute? I know I put down housing but at 27K+, and I highly doubt they’ll cover over 91% of that.

I hope they give me good aid but what I’m looking for is unreasonable for an OOS student who’s grades aren’t surpeb and got waitlisted.

UCF is in the city which I love but I wanted a change from the regular city life I want to be in a college town. Not to diss UCF students but UCF was only a gateway(ISS,Transfer, and a feel for FL) to UF for me.

Being Waitlisted just feels depressing.

With your current situation, consider yourself lucky to even be accepted summer term… Not to be mean or anything, but if you wanted to attend UF, you could have just applied there. Two of my friends got in for spring term with a 22 ACT, while another with a lower GPA and a 24 ACT got in for summer term. Not to say you would’ve gotten accepted for sure, but it couldn’t hurt trying.

Cheesypoofs, yes, I think everyone is required to take some summer courses unless they already have some college credits upon entering. Don’t remember the exact policy, but it’s something like that, I think. I think for OSS or even OOC (out of city, lol) students, it would be a good idea to start over the summer, just to get used to Orlando.

Hey Midknite - not the best idea - but there’s a bus route to UCF: [LYNX - Route Listing](<a href=“Public Transportation in Orange, Seminole & Osceola”>Public Transportation in Orange, Seminole & Osceola). I, of course, could be wrong, but I think fall could be a stretch at this point. If you don’t use your summer slot if/when you get it - maybe you can give it to me. :)

But what do I know … I’m still deferred … it’s killing me.

My aunt lives in palm coast. I can’t see the route listings so maybe there is one but buses take long from my experience.

What am I suppose to do now?

Do waitlist get aid?

Seems weird you’ve been accepted to Embry-Riddle but still waitlisted for UCF. Did you declare AE at both? Why do you want UCF as your #1 choice in Florida? Did you get fin aid from ERAU? I applied to UCF too late for aid but still havent decided for sure. Will be visiting both again in the next few weeks.

Even if you get waitlisted you get aid. However, due to the fact that you got waitlisted, you probably wont get merit based aid. Thats due to how late your admission would be and the fact that if you got waitlisted, it means your grades/test scores aren’t among the most competitive and probably would not have earned you merit aid even if you had applied and gotten in earlier. You still will qualify for financial aid though based on your FAFSA EFC. The doesnt change regardless of how late you apply because thats aid give to you by the federal government. I think UCF might give you some sort of OOS financial aid grant as well should you get accepted.

Doesn’t seem that weird to me because I think UCf is ranked higher than Embry. Yeah I put AE at both but then sent an email saying I wanted to put in as undedicided at UCF. UCF was at a tie with Embry, and UF was my real first choice. I wanted a place that was a college town/city(The college or colleges as with BU and NE were big parts of the local aera and when I walk around wearing my UF,BU,UMCP hoody people would ask all types of questions) and big on sports, and etc. Embry gave me Engineering and was small which I liked since small means less students per class and not being taught by TAs as much, and was near a beach. UCF was in orlando which has the Magics, but was very big, but it also had a city which I’m used to meaning I won’t be shocked when I get there and it had some diversity, and was my transfer ticket to UF( I’d get instate since I’d be staying with my Aunt, Who I can definitely claim as my house since i will be living there).

Embry still hasn’t sent in Aid and I emailed them. I’m about to start calling like crazy now.

UCf is cool and all but I’ve lived in cities for too long and feel its about time I change up the flow. Embry is expensive(which kinda makes it not good to transfer from).
