Ivy League Student Happiness

I never liked B’s. It was internal drive not motivated by grad school, parents, or anything else. In the end, I did however to grad school twice, both master’s degrees but that was not my intent while in undergrad and I went in to the work force before continuing my education. You never know where life will take you.

I was at a state flagship but one far inferior to U Mich.

I’m not saying a B makes someone a bad person but I also believe that not worrying about grades isn’t the right answer either. Strive for B’s and a slip up is a C. Strive for A’s and a slip up is a B. Some stress is good. The only way to learn to handle stressful situations at the next level is to enter stressful situations at the current level. The next level may be a career or it may be grad school.

Work has put far more stress on me over the years than school. For school, if I do the work, I excel. It’s on me. In the workforce, the variable of people, both subordinates and superiors, can induce far more stress than school.

FWIW, Brown routinely topped the “happiest Colleges” list. Haven’t really followed it anymore but from reading the BDH, wouldn’t be surprised if we’ve fallen from grace in that regard.
