Ivy/Top 20 vs State Flagship Honors Program

UT-Dallas is not a Flagship.

Are you a Texas resident? If so, then going to a Texas undergrad may help with med school admissions to Texas SOMs.

If you’re not a Texas resident, then attending UT-Dallas may not give you that edge.

That said, you’re probably going to be a top student at UT-Dallas which means a top BCMP GPA and a top cum GPA. That’s good for med school admissions.

Once you’re through a semester or two of premed prereqs, enough kids will have weeded out that your classmates will be strong students. The first semester, every Tom, Dick and Harry will have declared himself “premed” but after a bunch don’t do well in Bio or Gen Chem, they move on to other things.

Ut-Dallas has the Eugene McDermott Scholars, I have a friend in that and he gets a bunch of perks and it distinguishes him from the rest of the class, I think you should take a look at the program if you already haven’t, my friend passed up UNC, USC, and NYU for it
