I also haven’t heard anything, I’m thinking the decisions will be out by Friday as the month ends on Sunday and I doubt they’ll be sending out decisions over the weekend.

Yeah, I got rejected last year, but they told me that I was in the top tier. I think if you don’t get rejected until the last day you are considered a top tier applicant, but I’m not sure.

Top tier is more like semi-finalist, I think. From what I can tell there’s no waiting list…?
how many people are in the top tier tho? with 1000 applicants it seems unlikely that the top tier would be more 50 people considering some have already been accepted… it seems unlikely that all of us would be in the top tier right? lmao the closer it gets to the 31st the less hopeful i become haha

haha I remember applying to this last year. My uncle owns one of the labs and he said they strongly prefer not to admit high schoolers as they have had previous issues with them boarding w other interns who were all adults (also i didn’t take advantage of the nepotism). My resume is pretty good i think for a hs student, but compared to college kids? probably not as much. ap classes/national merit/act doesn’t mean as much as like… any college achievement. my parents asked me to apply again this year, but i don’t think much in my resume has significantly changed and the same goes for their policy (and i’ve got other research gigs that are actually meant for graduated seniors/high schoolers at places slightly cooler than jax so… those make a lot more sense) but of course, good luck to you guys!

I’m a female Asian American who attends a private high school. I’m currently a junior. I have good grades and strong letters of rec (one from one of the people who write the ap chem exam) I have eight months continued biochemistry research experience at the university near my home (i live in Texas) with an expected publication in the fall. This is accompanied by other ECs. I expressed heavily specified interest in one lab at Jackson through my essays, and I noted that I was a presenter last at Rice University for some of the subject matter they study there (hence my interest in this lab).
I believe I was rejected for either because my lab interests were too specific or the fact I’m still in high school. I believe my application was strong, however, I am not sure.
