January 2010 Writing Thread

@garfield12
I put that “which” was incorrect as well.
it should have been ‘the number of people that migrated’ or ‘the number of people who migrated.’ I’m not sure which of those would be the right rewording, but I am just almost 100% sure that “which” would be incorrect.

boys thing was experimental, i never got it

What was the answer to the soviet ship and whales question?

was this fix or find?

I put that “which” was incorrect as well.

The whales was find - I said that “had swam” was incorrect, but I have no idea if that’s right.

did anyone have a revision section about poets being made famous by queens and their views on love as expressed in song/poem and the like…? I really hope that was experimental

mmm I ended up leaving the question with the whales blank. that one was tough

and I didn’t get one about poets so that was probably experimental

YES, sounditout you made my day haha

Could someone please post the full “resources for photography” question? THANKS!!! :)

Did anyone notice the grammatical error on the front cover of the SAT booklet? It said, “…will result in your scores being cancelled.”

“scores” needs to be “scores’.”

I hate to say this, but discussing right and wrong answers just makes you paranoid. Its over, the weight is off your shoulders. Try to enjoy the rest of your weekends, and when you get your score, be happy with what you got because you did your best. :)

it was definitely had swam –> should’ve been swum

Yeah, sorry, I posted about that without reading the thread - my bad. I’m so glad I got that one right, it was the only one I was unsure of and I filled it out at the last second.

I totally noticed that. It frustrated me. >.<

Does anyone know the full (or at least some of the) NY question?

oh baby silveturtle is on here

silver 800 in writing this time?

silverturtle how many times have you taken the SAT?

It depends on what happens with my essay (I’m expecting a 10), whether the “provided resources for” phrase is wrong as I contend it to be, and the curve. If I do get 800 on Writing (which I do not expect at this point), I will probably get 2400; I am confident that I got 800 on the other two sections.

Once in seventh grade, once in ninth grade, and today.

Anyone have any idea what range 3-4 wrong w/ 3 omits would be with a 10-11 essay?

The proctor was terrible. She started time at any random point within the minute and ended at the start of the 26th minute for a 25 minute section. Since she started around 30 seconds into a minute interval, only 24:30 had elapsed on my stopwatch when she called time. I had about three questions left on the improving paragraphs section which I knew I could finish and get right because I always get those right but I was forced to omit them. I’m still kinda ****ed off considering the rest of the writing section was relatively hard for me. Also, this prompted me to not want to skip any more in the last section despite a couple of them being hard.

silverturtle how long was your essay?
