January 2010 Writing Thread

For October 09, 12E and -5 is was 730.

"I’m sorry if this question has been asked already but HOW MANY NO ERRORS DID YOU HAVE??
I had 3:

 1. The one about the X chromosome
 2. The one about New York and apples
 3. The one about Saturn’s rings"

Can someone who didn’t have writing experimental affirm that these weren’t experimental??

awesomemath, I posted that and I didn’t have writing experimental haha (:

I swear I answered that question. I had the same no errors.

But I had a writing experimental. The one about the windmills (should be section 6) was the real one.

Also did any one get the skyscraper paragraph? I know it was experimental but if so, do you remember whether it was section 5 or section 6 (in other words, did it come before or after the real section)

To those who did not have experimental writing: Did you have these questions?
Identifying errors: provide resources FOR photographers
Identifying errors: the author wrote about boys who blah blah blah became successful THROUGH hard work and good luck
Fixing errors: Were the walls to be painted now, they would be dry tomorrow

@ darksoulz
did you have a skyscaper paragraph as section 5?

can someone confirm the answer for the Saturn ring’s “identifying error” problem? what was the exact question?

It was something like:
It is now widely agreed that Saturn’s rings are made of ice…?

So is the saturns rings one no error?

Did anyone compile a list? So far what I have is:

 1. Whales had swum (not had swam)
 2. Chromosome – no error
 3. New York apples – no error
 4. So profoundly influenced
 5. Were they to be painted
 6. Agency - for
 7. Principle’s plan to rebuild during interview
 8. Delete solar energy sentence
 9. Candy/sugar alcohol/calories: “but do”
 10. Saturn’s rings – no error
 11. Paragraph correction (windmills): In addition vs. granted.
 12. Migrants – should be who not which

I think I got three of these wrong already… T___T
At least I did well on writing on my Oct SAT. : )

how many no errors (Choice A) did you guys get for Section 6 in the fix section?

“6. Agency - for”

What was this question? I don’t remember this.

The last question in section 10 about the agency and pollution… I know the answer was E, don’t remember what the actual answer was…

And the 2nd to last question in section 10 was “so profoundly influenced”

Char is right. I think it was D E or C E but they were those answers.

Can someone answer awesomemath’s question. I would realllllly like to know… i thought writing was pretty difficult this time.

For the first Writing section I got 1 no error. (experimental?)
For the second Writing section I got 3 no errors. (experimental?)

anyone confirm?

@ skippy
are you sure all those are non-experimental??

@cookiemonster7: I’m pretty sure this has been confirmed a few times already, but there were definitely 3 No Errors in one section…

@awesomemath Yeah, I had an extra CR and had all those writing questions so they’re not experimental…

Cookie, I got the same. 1 NE for 1st writing (the experimental) and 3 NE for the 2nd.
