Another important thing to think about is that this would have been the third perfect game in 24 days. With Jimenez’s no-hitter earlier this year, it’s evident that pitching is back and the steroid era is over

I’d cut Joyce some slack. I mean sure, the call was absolutely horrid and he should’ve known better in that situation, but this will completely overshadow his long career as one of the best MLB umpires. He took it like a man after the play and then admitted his mistake. Give him some credit.

Also, good point pramirez.

hate to burst your bubble, but drugs and sports go together like cake and icing. If it’s not steroids then it’s just something better and more discrete.

ive never seen such a mistake in the 16 years i have watched any professional sport ever. i felt terrible for everyone but i have to feel worst for the pitcher

btw, that woulda been THREE PERFECT GAMES in 1 season. something thats never happened before

Selig isn’t going to reverse the call and award the perfect game.

Hands down, it was the biggest brain fart in the history of baseball. Joyce will be moving to wherever Steve Bartman is living.

oh please

one mistake = your undies in a twist?

by that logic you should fire EVERY umpire for being mistake-prone humans

sheesh

i like the fact that there are bad calls. questionable calls and managers getting into arguments with the umps are an awesome part of the game. what makes baseball so charming is all of the old-timey crap and the bs . . .
