JMU Decisions - Class of 2025

Same for D - even though admitted to the Honors College. Unexpected.

Same for my daughter as well with a Honors College admit - she received nothing. JMU is $10k-$20k more expensive per year compared to her other options where she was accepted (we are OOS). I am an alum so was really hoping JMU would work out, but happy that she has more affordable options.

My son admitted to Honors as well and will be $50k more over 4 years than his other top choice school. (USC). makes it an easy decision. (OOS also)

Well, at least we’re in good company! LOL I really liked JMU, too. I was bummed. But she loved Miami and it’s a good bit cheaper. Just waiting on UConn and Syracuse, but I’m guessing it will come down to Miami (Ohio) and UConn.

Isn’t it only around 19k to go there? That’s what I read.

We’re OOS. It’s over $40k/year currently.

same here, even with my merit scholarship it is way too expensive (oos, nj)

Ok we live in Virginia.

JMU was historically a regional teachers’ college and we all know how much teachers get paid, so they don’t have a legacy of donors with deep pockets. It’s only been a semi-prestigious university for a few decades. If you’re a state school, donations and endowments are the only way you can have enough money to give out tons of aid. Many other schools are more generous because of a hundred years or more of rich alumni.

Haven’t checked in here for some time but for those wondering about RD…not sure on portal aspect but my daughter is currently a junior at Madison. She did not apply EA just RD and earlier in the thread had looked up her date for student deferred and she found out March 15 mid to late afternoon like usual

Just don’t forget that a lot of people will opt out of JMU. Opening more spots

On the undergraduate admissions page, JMU announced they are still accepting applications for Fall 2021. Did they not receive enough applications by the due date? Will this further delay RD notifications?

no i don’t think it will delay decision dates, they probably didn’t get enough rd applications and are trying to get some last ones in

Check your portals. My D was accepted today. No email.
