jobs

While some of the things mentioned may be true in some situations, this has not been my experience. Myself and two of my roommates have interviews in the next couple weeks, and many of my friends have had interviews or already have offers. Most of us are looking for internships right now since we are juniors, and this is great since many companies don’t even start looking for interns until February or later. While some companies do have hiring freezes, the companies that attend the career fairs have to pay Rose to attend (in addition to travel and other expenses of course), so they are not likely to go to that trouble if they aren’t hiring. Cheezwhiz is right that engineering is one of the best areas to be in, and Rose is one of the best schools for engineering. The national job placement rate for all new graduates is 29%, and no matter how you count it, the percentage of Rose grads on their way to a successful career path either in industry or academia is much higher than that.
