<p>I don’t think the true verdict is out on this one and may never be - as to what exactly Jon was doing. I believe there is a People mag article about them and they admit to struggling with some issues right now, but that’s about it. Unless they end up working THAT into the show, it’s probably something we won’t and don’t need to know about.</p>
<p>That being said, I think they have both done their share of creating problems/heartache for their marriage as well as their children. Neither should be playing the blame game - they just need to get their act together - i.e. their act together and their kids.</p>
<p>To me it’s very scary to watch the show in the early years when Kate was just a cute mom trying her best and Jon was a dad going to work and coming home and the daily struggles of a big family to NOW where “normal” means free trips, goodie bags from every venue they visit, prime seating, hired help etc.etc. :(</p>

<p>The entire episode was Kate alone with the kids. She explained that Jon was at his mother’s house for eight days helping her out (and partying, lol). The last five minutes was the two of them on the couch. Jon didn’t look happy at all. Kate was going on and on about how this is the perfect job for her and she wants to do season five. He didn’t seem too happy about it. Lets see if they’re still together by season five.</p>
<p>Very awkward ending. Sounds like season 5 should be called “Kate +8” cause Jon definitely sounds NOT interested.</p>
<p>The look on his face throughout the episode(s) tonight was very odd - guilt???</p>
<p>Kate loves her job and now, for the record, she loves shopping too. Funny how shopping is so much more appealing when you have lots of $$$ to do it, eh Kate???</p>
<p>I saw a picture of jon and a couple of college girls together, but I’m hoping that they just came to him and wanted a pic. And I actually like Kate, even tho she can act like a witch. I probably would act like that with 8 kids!</p>
<p>Haven’t read all the latest posts, but noticed that the TV promos are two-fers this week - last J&K+8 for the season, debut of <em>new</em> show - parents, plus 3 sets of twins, plus sextuplets… Table for 12. Are they hedging their bets, going for as many multiples as they can?</p>
<p>actually, the shape of it reminded me of where his goggles would touch his forehead when he’s skiing, so I assumed it was skiing related.</p>
<p>Say what you want about the show, but when I heard tonight that he’d gone to stay with his mother when she broke her foot and needed help around the house, I was waiting for the skeptics to come out. What would everyone be saying if they’d found out his mother broke her foot, and Jon refused to go help her out? And I think it’s a completely plausible scenario, that, while he was there, he went into town a couple of nights (maybe even with some younger cousins/family friends, etc.) to the bar, and someone decided to take pictures while he was blowing off a little steam. </p>
<p>Over Christmas break, I was playing DD for D1 and some of her friends. When they got to the last bar of the night, they begged me to come in (of course they were all fairly intoxicated and each one thought I was their best friend). I went home and changed my clothes and came back. The bar was filled with kids she’d graduated high school with, and some of the guys were borderline flirting with me. Had someone taken any pictures of that (we were there until 2:30AM), and shown them to my employer (I was on call for work that night, but only nursed one beer over an hour and a half, just to get them to shut up), the same kinds of inferences could be made about me. But I had a blast… watching all these post-college grads do silly stuff, telling me silly things, watching them reconnect with classmates they hadn’t seen in some years. I am definitely a night owl, so this was no stretch for me to be awake this late, but had anyone taken pictures in this context, a lot of heads might spin if someone jumped to conclusions.</p>
<p>Another observation I had tonight… while the show has been very liberal in showing the whiny side of Maddie, I noticed tonight they refrained (it’s all in the editing). I watched Maddie very closely, and she was pouting… a lot, but at least they left it out of the show. She was not a happy camper when Kara got to go out to mid-court with the Harlem Globetrotters.</p>
<p>arizonagirl - I think you’re on to something. If my daughter were in a bar and Jon showed up, you bet she and her friends would go ask for pictures with him.</p>
<p>It wouldn’t shock me if the marriage was over. She does seem very demanding on him. How many reality shows have their marraiges end. I think only the Osbournes didn’t! The Barkers, Caren Electra, Jessica Simpson, Danny Bonaduce.</p>
<p>A few months ago I read that the aunt and her had a huge falling out (her brother’s wife)…there seems to be a trend going on people calling their realtionship quits with her. Her head might be too big to fit through the door and people are tired of her demands. </p>
<p>I’d like to hope the marriage can be saved if they quit the show. It will require a downgraded lifestyle. So what? At least they were happy and functional before becoming famous. </p>
<p>If Kate continues one speaking gig per month and Jon gets a “real” job, I bet they can make ends meet on $300,000…especially since they have (virtually?) no house payment and college has been gifted to them from the citizens of PA.</p>
<p>Yes, but all of those free trips will go away!</p>
<p>Plus, I think she is an egomaniac and she would lose that spotlight nationally.</p>
<p>I am sure that their marriage is in the tanks, because before the story broke she even said Jon and I fight like evrybody else. It seemed as if she wanted to get ahead ofthe story.</p>
<p>BTW does she ever dress the kids in non-matching clothes?</p>
<p>I am now wondering if the renewal of the wedding vows was an attempt to put their marriage back on track.</p>
<p>I feel sorry for her in one way because if she does split from him, she will have very little family. She is estranged from her parents and at least one brother. Not sure what her realtionship with her siblings are, but I get the feeling she doesn’t have any relationship, since only the sister-in-law that she is estranged from was ever on the show.</p>
<p>teriwtt - his mother doesn’t live near the college. It’s about 3 hours away. Most people in Jon’s hometown feel badly for him and there is no love lost for Kate. Around town you probably would be hardpressed for anyone to “give up” Jon.</p>

<p>Watched* Table for 12 *with D last night…12 year old twins, 10 year old twins, plus 4 year old sextuplets. Parents seem normal so show probably won’t last. Dad got Mom a spa day for her birthday - Mom really didn’t like it - she took 10 year old daughter with her and D got the facial and massage and all Mom would get is a manicure. Family went out to a local aquarium and then ordered pizza. They all ate sloppy cheesy pizza and drank 7-up. In non-matching clothes. Kate must be havng a cow.</p>
<p>Poor Jon, I just looked up “hen-pecked” on Wikepedia and his picture is there. I wonder how many times he has used the phrase “yes dear” in their marriage?</p>
<p>I bet Jon’s 1st words in the morning is MAY I GO TO THE BATHROOM DEAR? or maybe it is KATE CAN I HAVE MY MALE MEMBERS BACK SO I CAN GO TO THE BATHROOM?</p>
<p>The one episode that I saw over the weekend drove me insane. They were buying big kid beds, for the old house. What the heck was she thinking, bringing all 8 with her. Are you kidding me? As I watched it you could see the kids just going crazy while she sat in a chair flittering back and forth on the finish. Kate…here’s a clue, take the brochure home and come back! That poor salesman deserved every penny of the commission!</p>
<p>Then when they are delivered, she wants Jon to stop putting them together so they can nap, but than complains that they aren’t built. Bullet would have thrown the cordless screwdriver at me and would say than YOU DO IT!</p>
<p>Right after that they did the 4th of July where she was bent out of shape that the kids jackets didn’t match. AND BIG SHOCKER…the kids were whiny because you made them walk 6 blocks each way at the age of 3, and also told them the candy you got needs to be thrown away. Cut me a break, don’t have them go after it and then take it away, common sense here, play the game Can you get that for Mommy, then they would be less likely to believe it was theirs to start with.</p>
<p>Am I the only one that believes she has had some kind of work done on her face, i.e. botox. When she was n Dr Phil, I didn’t even recognize her. It wouldn’t surprise me…she made him get Hairplugs in one of the episodes. Her name should be Kate VAIN Gosselin</p>
<p>IMHO the only reason she wants to stay married to Jon is b/c her image would be ruined and she knows that many viewers like Jon more than her, so she is not as marketable as Kate + 8</p>
