<p>That was pretty early on before they got rich doing the show and writing books. She got a free tummy tuck and some other work too. Kate was pretty well known for hunting down freebies which apparently caused the early break with her family.</p>
<p>whatever4, the hairplug episode, while distasteful, wasn’t the final straw for me in my enjoyment of watching this show. It was when I read an article about them where Kate was talking about their speaking engagements and how they can only ‘select’ certain churches at which to speak. The criteria they use boiled down to which are the largest and can, therefore, seat the largest audience. The article went on to say that, in addition to the fees they receive for speaking (I later found out that this amount was several thousands of dollars), at the end of their speech, they ask the audience for “love offerings”. In other words, they pass the plate to collect even more money, very likely coming from individuals who are nowhere close to being in the same financial situation as J&K. It disgusted me. As much as I loved watching those adorable children, I couldn’t stand to even look at Kate any longer.</p>

<p>Kate is going to be on the Today show this morning to address all the “rumors!”</p>
<p>Supposedly she acknowledge it on Rachel Ray yesterday. She never talks about the affair, just that they take life one day at a time, and she was shocked by the medica attention.</p>
<p>I should have known that this is all about promoting her new book.</p>
<p>Kate’s segment is up next on the Today Show and she didn’t look happy in the teaser they just ran.</p>

<p>Just watched the segment on the Today Show. Meredith Viera interviewed Kate. She didn’t bare her soul or talk about her spouse or any problems they might have. Here are a few of Kate’s comments: </p>
<p>she’s doing this (show/books) for her kids
she doesn’t care if her books don’t sell, they’re a memoir for the kids,
she’s not perfect, she tries to do what’s best for her family,
she takes one day at a time, sometimes one minute at a time,
she figures the tabloids go with the territory (having a reality show), the stories are hurtful, but she’s got a thick skin, it’s her kids that she’s worries about
tabloids pay people large sums of money to give interviews and the jucier the story, the better, and people should know that
the kids are the most important thing in her life</p>
<p>I don’t watch the show, so I can’t say if she was presening a different persona than she normally does. She was pretty straightforward with her comments and she was careful with her answers. She stuck to answering the questions and didn’t offer information. What come across to me was that she was going to keep on with the show and all of the publicity wasn’t going to deter her.</p>

<p>I think she knows that people are starting to really see her in a negative light, and that might be why she is saying she doesn’t care about book sales. She might not, but I am sure the publisher cares! Just realize GA beat me to it!</p>
<p>The beginning yrs when they lived in their 1st home, I might be wrong, but I believe this is house number 3 in 5 yrs. People enjoyed watching how they coped with 8 small children on a fixed budget with limited help. As time has gone on her flaws are showing in a negative way. Flipping out over the ice cream melting and getting the clothes dirty was unreal. Her quirks are just annoying and it’s poor Jon that takes the brunt. She treats him like the 9th child if he doesn’t follow her orders to the exact measure. The flipping out on Jon because the kids on 4th of July didn’t have matching jackets was also over the top.</p>
<p>Also people are starting realize she is using her fame for some high priced things (tummy tuck, hair plugs, trip to Hawaii, Disney and other vacations) and some other things like free haircuts, Sesame Street, Cirque Soleil, and the Circus.</p>
<p>Her family is no longer on speaking terms, and I believe his also has cooled on them. In the first 2 seasons, her inlaws were babysitters, but you never ever see them anymore. Her SIL(her brothers wife) has a website slamming her.</p>
<p>When you have so many loved ones that you are on the outs with like her, you need to start asking how everybody else could be wrong and her right. I doubt she has ever really seen what her actions look like by the normal viewer.</p>
<p>I must have missed it in the Central time zone. </p>
<p>It should be on Hulu. So I will watch it later.</p>

<p>Meredith read a statement from Jon, too. He says he didn’t cheat on Kate but that he needs to be more careful about with whom he associates.</p>

<p>I’ve never once watched the show, but in any interview I’ve seen with her she comes across as cold as ice. I think the Duggers are nuts for continuing to pop out kids, but at least they come across as nice people.</p>
<p>I will say that I do agree with her that when people are paid for stories that there is incentive for embellishment. I looked at the links posted on here and the interview where the brother talks about hearing her sister have sex through the walls – yuck. How nice of him to mention that while trying to protect his poor sister. Puhlease.</p>
<p>I expected Kate to come on the Today Show and say, “Jon won’t be having an affair anymore because I castrated him several weeks ago.”</p>
