Not a current greek but I do have a lot of friends who are greek and am planning on rushing next year. From what I’ve been told/know, it’s actually easier for transfers to get into a “top house” sorority, if you will, or a sorority because there are less people in your grade vying for the same few spots(comparatively it’s harder for freshmen). Even though you will be part of the new pledge class, once initiated you will be given the same kind of respect as one of the older members because of your age/school standing. The experience is what you make of it so IMO it wouldn’t be dampened by you only being there 2 years. In regards to Greeks being looked down upon, I can’t answer that unbiasedly but I wouldn’t say they are that much. Of course there are some stereotypes that follow greek life around, but greek life at UCSD is very different than it would be at another school and the students for the most part don’t really embody the stereotypes. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions!
