Also @Maizeandblue on your post about the fraternity diag day, I noticed the exact same thing, and I agree steering clear of those is probably a good idea.

I’m not going to get into a long argument about greek life with someone that’s not in greek life but, one, no I have nothing at all against Fiji, I didn’t even rush there. I said that I think they’re a great house, but I’m just curious as to why you think they’re the best thing since sliced bread. I wouldn’t say that any one house has the best reputation on campus, and if I were to name one fiji wouldn’t be my number one choice. As far as everything else you’ve said, I guess we just had different experiences but I can tell anyone out there that my post is representative of my now 5 months actually in a fraternity. And btw I agreed with you on the brothers being more revealing when they’re drunk point.

Fiji is great, probably top 5, but definitely not the stand-alone best fraternity on campus.
Phi Psi, Theta Chi, SAE, Pike and Fiji probably round out the top 5 as they mix with the best looking (and also some of the sluttiest/*****iest) sororities like Phi, Kappa, Tri Delt, AXO, and theta.

Honestly Kyle, you’re blowing Fiji out of proportion. They’re a solid frat. There is no distinguished number one. As Albatross said, they’re top 5. No one considers them to be Gods. When someone says that they’re in Fiji, they don’t get “Oohs and Ahs”. It’s a good frat. I know some girls that actively dislike Fiji who are in Kappa, Alpha Phi, etc. It isn’t THAT hard to get a bid from them, and they aren’t that exclusive.

@kobudnik We’ll just leave that to opinion. Also it is THAT hard to get a bid from them because it’s ultra competitive, but its not THAT hard if you know what you’re doing.

To the freshman who started this thread,

Don’t believe anything these guys are saying about fraternities. While there have been some valid points made nearly every post is terribly biased, and designed to self-promote their own fraternities. That being said it’s clear all you kids who are arguing about who’s better are not tier 1, so have fun at your sub-par mixers. Peace.

Yeah bro, join a frat… Be cool…

^This guy obviously isn’t cool

Is it more difficult for an Asian to get into a frat?

A pretty white-washed Asian that’s pretty preppy, anyway.

@Kyle You said you knew a lot about the pre-professional fraternities? Could you elaborate on how those work?

It’s not any harder for an asian to get into a fraternity, and there is at least one in most of them.

I remember when i had to buy my friends brahs

desperate social climbers

desperate social climbers everywhere

Thanks for all the info guys. I have a question about rushing in the Winter Term. Are you less likely to get a bid if you do so because they have less bids? Is there any disadvantage?

What should guys usually wear to rush parties?

^ If you have to ask that you’re trying too hard.

And if you want a true fraternity experience, true pledge term, and true brothers, rush in the fall. Winter rush is second string.

I would heed the advice provided by maizeandblue21. He makes some good points.
Also, it’s a “fraternity.” “frat” will lead most brothers to cringe and will certainly not help you getting a bid.

I only ask cause I’m OOS so I need to plan… so I’m just assuming collared shirts, button downs and maybe a blazer for nice events?

what are the professional fraternities(business) like ? i was invited to one via email and how are there rush events ?
