<p>Jon Favreau looks like he should be prepping for an exam in college, not writing a landmark address for the world’s most powerful man. But the boyish, 27-year-old former Senate aide is the chief speechwriter for President Barack Obama, and he now faces one of the biggest challenges of his young life: writing Obama’s first address to a joint session of Congress, scheduled for Tuesday.</p>

<p>Q: What can you tell me about President Obama’s chief speechwriter, Jon Favreau?–Beatrice Greenwalt, Ovid, N.Y. </p>

<p>A: Favreau, 27, hails from North Reading, Mass., and worked for Sen. John Kerry after college. He met Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention in 2004. Theodore Sorensen, who gained fame as JFK’s speechwriter, calls Favreau “a brilliant young man who is doing a great job. He may seem young, but in many ways, youth, energy, idealism, and dedication are an advantage in a presidential campaign and the White House.”</p>
