Working at the DT is pretty flexible; if you’re on the staff you can choose how many hours you want to work and what days. As a staff writer, though, I’m not sure; if you’re a beat writer you have to generate a lot of your own leads, and for goodness’ sake, if you’re assigned a story remember to turn it in on time so that you can go over it with your section editors who will subsequently love you forever. I copy-edit there, so if you’re interested in that I can tell you more.
