It would also be unethical for you to publish this without the PhD student and Professor as co-authors. You are really at the mercy of the Professor for getting this published.

I wondered the same as @mynameiswhatever. My university was a stickler on the hierarchy and rules, and I had to run everything by my professors often, and couldn’t move to the next step until there were signatures.

If the professor contributes, he needs to be an author. He needs to see this, even if only to say “They used my lab, but I didn’t contribute”.
