I really think this is an incredibly valuable story. We get so many questions about whether a bad period of grades can be overcome, and that simple yes or no question is not necessarily the interesting question. The more interesting question is HOW you can best address such an issue, and this story is full of excellent ideas for doing that. The totality of which led to great results.

I do think the upward trajectory of grades is worth noting here, especially in your child’s case where rigor was also increasing, and there was a clear explanation for the early part of HS.

Clearly Child. That is what the C is for. If they wanted to say daughter or son they would. They chose C for Child. We don’t need to know more about gender than they want to give and it’s clear they do not want to go there.

And as a female Architect myself, I think it’s great to have more female representation in the field. But really, let’s move on.

(Agree not to distract the issue but as background, C26 no longer has a preference between they or she; but as I’ve been posting with C for so long trying to stay consistent here (I have mentioned gender very occasionally). That said: I do appreciate sweetgum’s post as a matter of principle, I’ve seen another poster questioned on here with 2 trans kids a while back and it isn’t anyone’s business. )
If gender has relevance to this topic, it’s that it’s more common for ADHD to be underdiagnosed or diagnosed later in girls than boys.

They’re leaning very strongly towards UIUC at the moment (both for the program and the supports, for which I have had fantastic feedback from other parents), but still need to visit - we have a few admitted student days booked late March/early April so should have an update then.

Which is why I usually just refer to “the student” to avoid making mistakes referring to the student’s gender, which is not relevant to the vast majority of these kinds of threads anyway.

Not that it wasn’t already a great result, but doesn’t that make it a 100% admit rate?
