My son has loved everything Army since he was very young. He used to play Army a lot and had his own BDUs, pup tent, and other surplus gear. He would be the captain or major and his little brother had to be the private. Military history has been a passion for him since about 5th or 6th grade. His interest in West Point started in middle school. A family friend would tell him stories about her dad who was a West Point grad and that got him thinking about applying. I have known since he was in grade school that he would most likely serve in the Army when he was grown. I knew nothing about West Point or his interest in it until the beginning of his junior year in high school. Once he told me about his desire to attend I did whatever I could to support him. He also applied for and received a 4 year AROTC scholarship that he would have accepted had he not got into USMA. He is determined to become an Army officer and make it his career.
