June 14 2014 ACT Discussion

Vandy does not consider so no impact.

C 34
35
33
35
34

@bsalum‌ Out of curiosity, how many do you think you missed on the science? I remember missing one, but I’m curious if you believe the curve is -1 for a 34. Received a 34 as well.

Not sure. It said:
18
18
Does that help?

@bsalum‌ Ah, I didn’t get a science breakdown on mine. Thanks.

@dune297‌
-1 = 35 -2 = 34 -3 = 32

Did anyone in Texas receive their scores yet?

@Daminus‌ I received mine today.

Composite: 32
English: 32
Math: 36
Reading: 28 :frowning:
Science: 32

damn it so close to a 33… gonna retake.

I only missed one on Reading and got a 34

@‌ vaish
How do you know?

I got a 32 composite without studying
(Math-30, English-33, Reading-32, Science-34)
If I raise one section by a point my score will round up to a 33. Does anyone know if that’s smart to send to NESCACs and lower ivies (such as Penn, Cornell, Dartmouth, Brown)?

When do writing scores come out?

I got my score this Monday but not my writing score. That’s weird.

I realize that the amount I guessed on because of no time was the issue so I can maybe do a lot better by working on my timing. I like the SAT a lot more now lol

Got mine today, 31 composite
31 E
34 M
30 R (went down a point D;)
28 S (no increase >.<)
Can we superscore the ACT? And how can I improve Science? I thought I did really well this time

@Hawkace‌ Not sure, but I just checked and my essay score is up.

*MIT uses the best subscores from each section of the ACT but does not use a composite score. So effect is same benefit as superscoring.

** University of Virginia does not combine subscores to reach a superscore composite but they do consider the best subscores from different tests.

***University of Illinois says that they do not superscore the ACT. However, they say ” Colleges will often evaluate results from the sub-scores (English, Math, etc.). If an applicant submits scores from more than one test date, the highest sub-score(s) will be used in this evaluation.” This appears to be similar to the University of Virginia.

Just a fact I’d like to throw in there so I can pretend to be useful - scores are usually not superscored for scholarships purposes.

@Jibmonster‌ I know for a fact that I only missed one based on the document and my subscores are
Social Studies/Sciences 18
Arts/Literature 17
Plus this is the same curve that it was on the Feb ACT so it seems to be common (-1 = 34)

@VaishS‌ I agree with you. I also received 34 but got 17 Social studies/Sciences and 18 Arts/Literature
