June 2009 ACT Reading Discussion

I put pressure of deeper water too. Also, there was one about the dilated eyes (I think it was to adjust to new lack of light?)

It was spread message to other villagers, because only SOME became politicians, while ALMOST ALL were from a different part of the amazon and would return home

And the eels eyes change color to adjust to the lack of light so deep in the ocean

@ Charlie Brown. What you put about the eel’s journey down the river. I narrowed it down to the river cycle , and something the eel’s bavahor or something I think it that(it was a .

@smarts

I almost put politicians but I think the answer was like saying the majority of the children would be politicians so I didnt put that

@Azn

What was “Commonly known as”? I dont remember

ya it was the river cycle i believe

Commonly known as was the answer to what the word I think “popular” meant in that situation. Something like according to popular legend. About bermuda triangle

@ bmsa91 I don’t remember what I put. I can’t remember the full answers. It was definetly one of the two you listed though.

I think one of the word substitutions was observe.

@matok. Thats what I put. I thought it was Azores, but I went into the passage and double checked. It seemed so freeking hard that passage.

It wasn’t the river’s cycle, that definitely wasn’t the main point of the paragraph because the entire story was about eels. Why would there be a paragraph based on the cycle of the Miss. River? I put the journey in/up/down the river, however it was worded

@charlie brown, yeah I got observe as the answer to what “read” meant in that situation

^yeah i remember that one about observe.

@matok

I thought the answer choice was “Eel’s river cycle”

yay i got that one too

mabs - yeah i got the river cycle thing.

no. observe could be used. but the answer that you should have put was “overseer” thats a person not a verb

it didnt just talk about the river cycle, it talked about being in the ocean. what were the other choices for that question.

oh ya… something was STRONG CURRENTS!
wat is azores and commonly used or something

you’re right it was “strong currents” tbonus.

tbonus you’re thinking of something from English, not reading. that was about the constellations. Observe was an answer for the eel passage
